"In order to take advantage of the Home Resort Priority, all Vacation Points being used to make the reservation must be associated with your Home Resort. If, at a later date, you wish to use Vacation Points from another Disney Vacation Club Resort, you cannot "switch out" the Vacation Points."
- From the DVC Vacation Planner 2006-2007

Part 1
Our use year is Feb. We have 150 pts. (a sign up bonus) this year and will bank them by July 31, 2006. We get 150 more pts. after Feb. 2007.

This is what I want to do in early June 2007:
Stay in a studio at SSR -
Move to a deluxe inn room at VBR -
Come back to WDW and stay in a 1-bedroom (standard) at BWV.

I can book for SSR later this month. In addition to the studio, should I also book our 1-bedroom there in case BWV falls through? Later on, can I change part of our reservation from SSR to BWV. What are my chances of getting VBR and BWV at the 7-month window for early June 2007?

Part 2
We will book the 150 pts. that we have now for the next year. So, by June 2007, we will have 300 pts. total. Let's say we only want to use 270 of them - can we bank some? The points that are being banked would be a part of the 150 that we received AFTER June 2007. I realize that you can bank points only once.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY INFO. AS YOU CAN SEE, I'M A NEW MEMBER!!! :mickeyjum

If it were me, I would also book SSR now for the whole trip so that I know I have a place to stay no matter what. I think you will be able to get an OV Inn Rm at VB in early June, but you may not be able to get the standard view at BWV. You should be able to get a PV at the BWV at 7 months though. Be sure to call as soon as your 7 month window opens - to have the best chance of getting SV, call day by day as soon as MS opens.

Yes you can bank any or all of your 2007 points (subject to the deadlines of course).

Congrats and welcome home. You must have done your homework well because you seem to have a good understanding of how it all works. :)

Best wishes -

Just a quick reminder that you can only bank up to the total points you recieve in a given use year. Therefore, if you bank all 150 points from the '06 use year into '07, you will have to use at least 150 points in '07 to be able to bank at least 150 into '08.

The quote from the planner is misleading. What is says and what it intends to say are not quite the same thing when looked at critically. Let me give you an example. Say you had SSR and BWV points, 150 each. You then book early Dec standard view 11 months out. Then at 7 months you want to sub the SSR points. If all days you have reserved are sold out, you cannot sub the points and the quote would be accurate. OTOH, if some of the days would be available to book with the SSR, you could sub the points and free up the BWV points. You could even wait list day by day and sub later if the wait list came through. It really comes down to whether you'd be getting something by subbing that you couldn't have gotten at the 7 month window.

Just making sure I understand this - all of my points are at SSR. So, let's say I booked my vacation for SSR 11 months in advance - a studio and 1-bedroom. Then, at the 7 month window, I want to change my 1-bedroom location to BWV. Would I be able to make the substitution?

What we want to do is stay in a studio at SSR, go down to VBR for two nights, and then come back to WDW and stay in a 1-bedroom at BWV. Would it be safe to book a studio and then a 1-bedroom at SSR (during the priority 11 month window) leaving a space of 2 nights in the middle for VBR - and then assume that a room for these two nights would be available during the 7 month window?

Thanks for anymore info.

Yes, as long as there was room at BWV for you at the 7 month point.

Actually, SSR is so large that you probably would be perfectly safe only making the reservation for the studio at the 11 month mark. If the VB and BWV portions are not available at the 7 month mark, you could easily make the reservations at SSR at that time (7 month window) for a back up. June isn't one of the more difficult times to get a WDW DVC reservation (HH is tough, and VB isn't a slam dunk, but the Inn rooms seem to last longer than the studios).

I think the word "substitute" might be causing us to misunderstand what you want. You can use your SSR points for any DVC resort once the 7 month window opens. So yes, you could reserve SSR at 11 months and then at 7 months cancel the SSR reservation and book VB or BWV or any of the other DVC resorts. Lots of members do that. It's very common and MS will not think it odd at all.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but you can bank as many times as you want as long as you meet the banking requirements for the time frame you're banking.
For example: You have 150 2007 points, and you bank 50 into 2008 while in your 100% banking window. Then, while in your 50% banking window, you want to bank some more points. You could at that time bank another 25 points. (50% of 150 is 75. You have already banked 50, so you could still bank 25 more).

The quote above has nothing to do with this situation. It is only applicable to those that own multiple home resorts who might book a more in demand resort then try to use lessor points later thus freeing up the better points to use again. As noted by others, you can change over to BWV IF and only IF it's available at the 7 month window.

Thanks a lot everyone - I appreciate all of the informative responses!!!
