Questions on POFQ refurbishment

I remember reading on these boards that when they closed down the POFQ that they removed the beds, TVs, etc. from all the rooms as well as all the equipment from the food court. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Or exactly what type of refurbishment they might be going to do or have done? Just thought those of you "in the know" might know. I always find out more from these boards than from Disney.

We are scheduled to stay there again the week after Christmas. We may end up at the POR instead if they don't open it. But was just curious if anyone had any updated informaion on opening and/or any changes or refurbishment.

Latest info I've heard is that POFQ is currently booking arrivals beginning May 31, 2002. It is reopening in its entirety. Don't know about the rooms getting rehabbed but I heard the food court has been.

Are you sure its opening in May? We are going in June and would love to stay there we currently are booked at PORS. This would be wonderful if they open it.

Yes, it will be opened on May 31st. You should be able to book it through CRO right now.

I remember reading this too, so if they plan on opening up in 2 months they better get a move on!! Perhaps someone who is just back from POR or someone who is going down soon can tell us whether they see any movement going on over there. ~~

Went past POFQ 2 weeks ago - it was dark. I doubt they cleared out the rooms. When Disney starting closing rooms after 9/11, they did just that - closed the rooms, but did not remove the stuff. They closed most of the Ranchos section in CSR and used the time to repaint the outside, etc. I'm sure that with a thorough cleaning the rooms will be fine! I'm pleased because now I'll book my fall weekend getaway at POFQ and then I'll have stayed in all 4 moderates.
