I was told by a coworker that you always needed to make reservations at Disney for there restaurants is that true? Do I need to do that at the fort? that is the only place we will be eating at, Also I plan on going out in the evenings off Disney property and exploring? Any suggestions on where to eat in the evings, appreciated.

7 nights in the Middle of June!

Any sit-down meal you plan to have on disney property (even the Fort) should be made prior to your arrival - better safe than sorry. You can make your reservations starting 180 (I think that's the magic number) days out - sooner rather than later is better. If you don't want to call you can reserve online here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/

When it is busy all the sit down restaurants are booked well in advance. You can make your dining reservations 180 days out. If you are only planning on eating at FW then it is Trails End or Hoop Dee Doo. Trails End is usually easy to get into but there have been occassions where we could not get a table without a reservation. I would suggest if you know what and when you want to eat you make a reservation, you can always cancel or change it. You can do it online, here is the link

Yes, it's best to make a reservation. The Hoop-de-do-Review is a dinner show and will require a credit card to hold the reservation. Trails End is a buffet and does not need a credit card for a reservation.

When we were there in June 2009, we ate breakfast at Trails End a couple times. We did not have reservations any of the times. I would say that it was roughly 8:30am each time and maybe the longest wait was 15 minutes. As far as other meals at on property locations, we had reservations for each. My favorite was the T-Rex!!

As far as off site, we didn't do other then Golden Corral. We did a breakfast there and a dinner there and that was it.

Just off property at the Cross Roads strip mall is a place called the Sweet Tomato, it is a great place to go for dinner. There are lots of dining places there.

We have actually been unable to get into Trail's End for dinner during really busy times - last year in the week before the Super Bowl, EVERYTHING was totally busy. I have seen Trail's End get really busy with walk-ups. People get off the boat from MK and decide to stop and eat there. Even if you call that morning you'll be better off.

I think breakfast or lunch would be easier.

We learned years ago due to our jobs and time off, we try to book all our vacations far far in advance. Thanksgiving we always reserve over a year in advance. We also learned to make reservations for Disney restaurants as far in advance as you can. Ohana's is one place that it usually takes me a good 3-6 month in advance to get a specific date and a reasonable time. You can always cancel a reservation
