questions on banking points

we have a trip booked for Jan 2018 which leaves us 48 points these need to be banked by the end of MArch 2018 we have a use year of August correct

so now Aug 1st we get out 2018 points we usually can only go one trip a year so our next trip wouldnt be till Jan 2019

so now Im confused on when these points from Aug 2018 would need to be banked

the more Im thinking of this for a Jan 2019 trip I could book in Feb would be 11 months out correct

so actaully I would need the 48 banked points plus whatever points from the 2018 use year which runs until aug 2019 right? and then use whatever I need from the 2018 points that dont need to be banked

sorry for all the questions but weve only been members since 2015 and Im still figuring out this banking points I would hate to lose any points

Ive tried doing a chat on the DVC but they dont seem to understand what Im asking

Yes, just keep using banked points first for your reservations and then any current points you need to complete the reservation. With an August UY your banking deadline is always March 31st but you would want to bank the points prior to making your reservation in the next UY if you have no other use for them in the current UY and want to use them in the next UY. Since you can book a January stay at your home resort 11 months in advance that is February so bank the left over points prior to that and the reservation will use the points first then current.

Eventually if your stays always require less points than you receive each year you'll have more banked points to use than required.

Points need to be banked during the first 8 months of your UY. Points need to be available during the dates of your stay, not when you make the reservation. Banking moves points one UY forward, borrowing moves points one UY back. Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be reversed.
