It's getting to the point where the excitement is too much and I spend every waking hour thinking about DLP....this has lead me to these questions...

1) Would we be better to (politely) ask for/request a room with a view of Fantasia Gardens or the park entrance? Or mention both and see what we get? We just can't decide which would be nicer! I'm swaying towards park entrance (so we can hear the music) but Christie would prefer Fantasia gardens so we can watch everyone entering the park! :wizard:

2) In this email, can we ask to have some biscuits/macroons in the room for when we arrive and pay the bill at the end of our stay, or would we have to ring and pay over the phone?

I know...I know...silly questions really. But everything else is planned and ready to go and we still have over a month left to wait! :rotfl2: :hyper:

Hi Charlotea.

We were on ground floor with terrace overlooking gardens when I stayed there so no view of people arriving but lovely peaceful setting. Personally I would prefer view of turnstiles and to hear music from parks than watching guests arrive but that is purely my opinion.

I think if you want items in your room they will ask for card details upfront to ensure they are paid for. That is what has happened when other FMs have asked for items in their room.

Great, thanks very much for your help :thumbsup2

Normally park view rooms and fantasia garden rooms are reserved for Castle Club and are actually price bracketed within that as well - so there are non view CC rooms as well as view ones, prices increase dependent on view.

Having said that, we've stayed at the DLH 5 times and have had a side on park view and also a full on fantasia gardens view before as well. But that was going at a quiet time of year - we didn't ask for them btw and I never take a note of room numbers which is silly I know! In the evenings we left the window open on both trips for a while and could hear the park music which was lovely.

Have to agree with Anemone, we once had a ground floor with terrace and chairs and it was lovely, but again this depends on the time of year you are going (if it's too cold to sit out, it's not much use!). In addition, I notice recently that the DLH have started charging a premium for these rooms - they call them something like garden terrace rooms :scared1:.

But all that is dependent on time of year and how busy it is - if the hotel is quiet and you are celebrating a special occasion like you are, you may be lucky.

Regarding your question about things in your room. I would email the hotel in advance and ask about this. I think they have a brochure/price list they can send to you via email beforehand. I don't think things are cheap and you will have to pay in advance for them.

Email try: DLP.DLH.GUEST.SERVICES@disney.com

Thanks for all the info!
I know that actual 'park view' room are for CC guests, what I really should have said more of a 'turnstile' view, haha! Think we will just ask for a nice view and see what happens. After all, even if we have a view of trees they will be DLP trees :rotfl:

I have emailed the DLH and received a price list, the macaroons weren't too badly priced (around €16 I think). By paying for something to be in the room it would make me feel less guilty for asking for a good view!

Oops, sorry just read that back and it doesn't make the best of sense! Phone keyboards :rolleyes2

I'd be inclined not to request anything specific and to just drop and email saying it's a very special trip and you're excited to come & celebrate.

I did this for our last stay at HNY and got a great room. Whereas the time before at DLH I was more specific and didn't get what I requested (Fantasia gardens)

We're hoping to upgrade to DLH for our March trip and I'll just be emailing to say it's a special celebration and we're very excited to come back.

Ah, that's good to know. I didn't want to risk sounding like I was hinting after a good room without actually stating it. But if they respond better to hints then it might be the way to go! :santa:

I agree with Torsie - those that ask outright don't tend to get what they've requested. A subtle approach often works better.

Glad they came back to you on the macarons!

The DLH is a lovely hotel - I am sure you will love it :lovestruc. On my recent trip I bought a bottle of the hotel scent room spray - love it!

sooo glad I asked this question - will definitely be subtle now I know!

I have considered the room spray as I suspect we will be given euros from family members to spend 'on something special'....I just don't know if it would be too special for me to want to use! We will see. I will probably be unable to resist :cloud9:

I ended up buying two sprays :rolleyes2. But, I've put one away to give to my lovely Mum for Christmas - she too loves the smell of the hotel :santa:. And, I haven't actually used mine yet either as we've currently moved out of our home while having a house extension built - hoping to move back in, in a week or so - the end is in sight after almost 13 weeks :scared1:. Once I am settled, all clean and decorated (hopefully won't take too long), the spray will be coming out :hyper:. If I close my eyes I can always pretend I'm in the DLH :rotfl2:.

Enjoy planning the rest of your trip .
