Questions for upcoming trip

Just wanted to update this post.

I again want to thank you all for your help!

We had a great trip, even with the wheelchair! Walker Mobilty had the chair waiting for us upon arrival. The chair was in great shape and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a rental.

Some things that we noted with having now used a wheelchair in the parks.

First, WDW transportation does a fantastic job with guests with disabilities. We actually got the best service and treatment from them as a group.

Second, I was amazed by the number of disrespect we recieved from guests, especially when it came to the buses. It wasn't all the time and it wasn't from most people, but enough to make you wonder where all the rocks are that they crawled out under from.

Third, CMs did an overall good job with the wheelchair issue. But it was like the bus service, it could be hit or miss at times. 90% of time it was good.

Fourth, people with strollers are by far the worse when it comes to lack of respect towards other guests. We literally got pushed out of the way several times by a stroller. These were not accidents and there were no apologies.

Anyway, I don't want to make it sound all bad. We actually had a very good time. In fact, we had a better time then expect. Thanks again!

If you need DVC advice, I could pay back the advice recieved.

I'm glad you had such a good time, even if there were a few bad Guests. Unfortunately, there are jerks everywhere in the world, even in the happiest place on earth. I think that they just become more vocal at Disney, because they're paying to be there (like the rest of us aren't ) so think that they should get every 'perk' they think others are getting (yup, staring at people's backsides all day is one heck of a perk!).

I'm sorry you experienced some problems with those with strollers. I find they tend towards either end of the 'niceness spectrum': either they're downright rude, or they're a lot more understanding, because they know what it's like to push something on wheels all day.

Anyway, glad you had a good trip, and that the wheelchair helped! It's always nice to have updates! :goodvibes

They likely will not giver her an assistance card. I went with a broken bone in my foot and required a boot this past October. I had two doctors notes and they did not give me the card. They told me to rent a chair and use fastpass where ever possible.

Danielle, I'm afraid this is standard Disney policy, though I'm very sorry if you felt short-changed by it. The reasoning behind it is that the distances between rides are often a lot longer than the queues for them. The reckoning is, if you can't cope with the lines, you'll probably have difficulty in the parks as a whole. Also, as the GAC doesn't get you through the line any faster, and a lot of the rides don't have alternative waiting areas, it wouldn't always provide adequate accommodations. To save Guests and Cast Members a lot of stress, they've adopted this as their standard line.

Hope you had a good trip anyway! :thumbsup2

Also, in most cases, using a GAC will not really shorten your walk. The path is usually going to be the same distance whether you are using a GAC or not.

Thank you, we did have a nice trip. I understood the policy. Had no hard feelings. I was in pain but made it through.
