I have never flown from Minneapolis to Orlando before. Northwest has the only nonstop flights (that I have been able to find.)

We are traveling the first week of May 2004. Saturday to Sunday. Right now the prices for a morning flight are $361  Has anyone gotten cheaper prices lately? I was hoping for something around $200-$250. Is that unrealistic to expect from NWA?

Thanks!

Wait, don't buy now. May is a slow time of year. You should be able to get a better price on the non stop.

I check NWA daily for airfares. Right now there are some really good prices on the nonstop ($188) BUT only out until January.

You can do better than $350. We usually pay around $230-250.

Check suncountry.com prices too. They also have a non stop.

Also, flying into Tampa is usually less, but that may not be something you want to do.

You'll also get better rates flying midweek. Returning on a sunday usually means higher rates.

herc.

Wait. And seriously, look into it's either ATA or Airtran. They have added 1 nonstop flight per week now. I can't remember if it leaves Sat or not.

Also, I know with kids, I didn't really want to do ANYTHING but a nonstop. That being said, Delta has sales about every other month. This year I got tix on Delta, with a stop in Atlanta, for $137 and $160. I paid for two trips worth of tickets on Delta that would have been only one trip on NWA. Atlanta actually was fun. The time was about 1 hr between flights. We had PLENTY of time to get to the next gate which on both flights was terminals away from each other, but their train makes it fast.

So, watch daily, jump on NWA if you get below $250. Or Sun Country if you like their times. And if you think you want to save 50% on your tickets, start watching Delta because those one day sales can be a gold mine!

Thank You! That was what I was hoping to hear. :)
I will definitely look into Airtran also.

I would wait. I am holding out for June 2004 tix myself. I would like to fly out on NWA on their nonstop flights, but the cheapest I found was $306.

I did get RT tix on Delta for last June for only $137.00. Yes, you had to transfer, but really it wasn't that bad.
We are also flying out on Delta this December with tix that were only $137.00

I think I would wait until you see NWA under $250. I am SURE they will drop in price.

Just an FYI...I didn't buy my tix for last June until March. That is when the sales seem to come out

Good luck, I will be searching right along with you

We just got back and we paid about $250 RT non stop on Northwest. We did see a Sun Country fare that was lower (around $225) but I didn't jump on it, so we ended up with Northwest. Check about four months out, that seems to be about the right time for airfares.

I agree to WAIT. We bought our tix for Jan. trip way back in March I believe. We got a good price of 142. We do have a layover in ATL for an hour each way. We have 3 kids and it is a good time to stretch. If we had bought one way on NW it would have been at least $500 more for our tix. If you can stand it, WAIT and watch. I signed up for Travelocity, they let you know when your air fares will go down. Then take it from there.
