Questions for the Pin trading experts

I'm new to pin trading and have some questions. Do the cast members seem reluctant to trade for pins from the starter sets. It just seems to me with the abundance of the starter sets available many people would be trying to trade the same pins over and over. How does this all work out?
Is buying a starter set the way to go????

As long as the CM doesn't already have the pin on their lanyard they will trade for it. Starter sets can be a great way to go unless the lanyards are already saturated with them, in our experience tho they are a good way to go.

I believe the CMs have a bin or something in the tunnels of all different sorts of pins specifically meant to be used for trading, so while someone who has been out on the floor for a while might have the same pins as people with starter sets, someone fresh on duty might have others.

Some other threads lately have said there has been a real influx of LEs and CM pins out for trading with CMs

CM's do get refreshed with pins from their managers so that the pins that are saturated on lanyards are kept to a minimum. When the saturation dies down those pins will be re-introduced to CM lanyards.
There are no bins in the Utilidor full of pins for CM's to use on their lanyards (I know I am an ex-cast member of the MK).
Cast members have to except the pin as long as it is a WDW authentic pin trading pin, and as long as they do not already have it on their lanyard.

Thanks for information. I am looking forward to trading, so far its just been collecting. But now after reading all the posts I might just give it a try. Going in October for the food and wine festival, can't wait!
