Awhile back I posted a whiny post about wishing I had waited for the Fun In the Sun tickets to come out instead of buying hopper passes before the the price went up. A couple of people mentioned selling the hoppers on Ebay and then purchasing the Fun in the Sun tickets.

Since I have no idea about Ebay, I was looking for some experts opinions on this :D .

First, is this legal? The tickets I have are still attached to the receipt so it very obvious to know they have not been used yet.

Second, if I do sell the tix, how does that work exactly as far as payment and delivery? I would want to know the money was paid before sending almost $900 tickets off to someone. I would also want to confirm that the person received the tickets as well.

Third, would you actually do this? It just seems risky to me and I would hate to be burned but dh is kind of pushing to do this.

Please no flames if this is in fact illegal. If it is, I won't be doing it.

First..if you have never sold on eBay, I would suggest you buy some some and get your feedback up there before trying ot sell such a high end item. Ticket buyers are usually as scared of you cheating them as you would be not getting paid...and they usually check feedback carefully.

Second, most of the tickets are sold on eBay either as a lost if they are never used, or as partial tickets, for instance, the people only want two days. I can't imagine why you would want to do that (sell at a loss)..I would save them (if you can afford it) for the future, and use them another time.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. By the time you pay the fees (for that amount of money, I would only accept a money order..however no one is going to want to send a newby to eBay a coney order), get a lower price since you have no feedback, I think the lose would be too high. I also think someone said once you could not collect on postal insurance when mailing "paper goods"..perhaps the postal worker who just posted can answer that.

For legalities, it depends on your state. eBay has a whole page just on tickets..what states you can sell to and from, and at what perentage of the cost you can sell them at.

Thanks for replying, DMRick :D .

A little more info...

Dh has a friend who frequently sells on Ebay and he has offered to sell the tickets for us. He has been doing it for years so hopefully he would have good feedback. I didnt' realize you paid fees depending on the price of items, though. I just assumed it was a flat fee (told you I know very little about Ebay ;) ).

The tickets I have are 5 day hoppers which is a pass that only Disney sells as far as I know. I would try to sell them for what I paid which would save someone approx. $60 over the prices of them presently (on all four tickets, not per ticket). But you are right in that I would not want to take a huge loss on them.

Ideally, I would like to just hold onto them for another trip. I'm hoping Dh warms up to this idea ::yes:: . Thanks again.
