We will be staying at PO Riverside for the first time and I was hopng someone who has stayed there can answer some questions? We are supposed to be in the Alligator Bayou room with a water view. How close will we be to the food court and how spread out are the Alligator Bayou buildings? I am used to staying at CBR so I have had to walk before, just wondering how spread ou it is in comparison to CBR. Also how many bus stops are there and if the boat is running where do you cach it? Also if anyone could comment on thebus system there and how effecient it is??? Thank You:D

The buildings are fairly spread out. If you don't know the number of the building, it's really hard to tell you how far you'll be from the food court, but no matter where you are, the walk is really nice. The landscaping is gorgeous.

There are three bus stops--the north, the west and the main. We were in building 37 last year, which is about as far as you can get, and we loved it. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the food court. It was very close to the bus stop, and the bus was never crowded, even though it was the week before Memorial Day. The boat runs from the main area, and it's a lovely ride.

We're going to be there again in December. We requested building 37 again, although I won't be disappointed anywhere. It's a beautiful place!

Thank You Beth:D I appreciate your response and it makes me look forward to staying there. I would also appreciate any other coments that anyone may have, good or bad.

Welcome to Riverside - it's a great resort!

First, waterview at Riverside might be a view of the river, the bayou or the pool. I'm not sure that a waterview is worth the extra $10 because there are no balconies, but there are certainly many who do like the waterviews. If you do not want a pool view, be sure to tell CRO.

The bayou buildings are small and intimate. They are somewhat spread out. There are 3 sections of 5 buildings grouped around a quiet pool.

If you want to be closest to the main building, select Bayou 14, 15 and 18. 14 and 15 have few waterviews, but 18 does have waterviews. Buildings 16 and 17 are also in the first group of bayou buildings.

There are 5 bus stops (including the 1st stop which is at French Quarter). We always catch the bus at the main building which is the 2nd stop on the bus route.

The boat runs from the main building to Downtown Disney from midafternoon until late at night. It is a great way to get Downtown - well worth the little bit of extra time!

You will enjoy Riverside - there is so much to do and it is a truly beautiful resort.

Here is a link to a map for you, it shows all the buildings (the 4 large ones on the right are the mansions, all the rest AB). It also shows all the pools and bus stops. As you can see on the map buildings 14 through 18 are closest to the food court & main building. ~:)~

You will love POR!! We have stayed in three different buildings in AB. #38, #18 & I believe #16 (that one I am fuzzy about - I was a rookie then).
All were great - we liked #18 the best. We had a corner room, but no water view.
Bus service: if you go at a peak time, be sure you get on at the main stop by Fulton's General Store. The bus goes to POFQ first and is packed much of the time. The stop I mentioned is first so you have the best chance for a spot before it hits all the POR stops.
I would be happy to answer any other ???s. POR is the resort I know the best!
Have fun!!
Sharon

We've stayed at both--I found CBR to be much more sprawling than POR--a least that's my opinion. We were in Magnolia at POR last summer for a night and it was far closer than walking from many of the buildings at CBR to OPR.

POR is my favorite moderate! You will love it. :D

We're returning in August for our 4th stay at PO-Riverside. I feel like I'm going home. :)

We had a water view room at Alligator Bayou building 14 4 years ago. We LOVED it. It was secluded feeling, but was about 2 minutes from the food court and the bus stop (there is a short cut to the bus stop in front of the Cotton Co Op. The quiet pool was also about 2 minutes away, and the main pool maybe 4 minutes. We felt is was the most convenient of any of the rooms and we were right across from the bridge going to the main land. Every morning we could look out the window and see the ducks swimming in the canal from the Sassagoula River.

Have a great time:)

WOW! Thank you everyone:D I really appreciate all of the replies. I know that everyone doesn't always have the same experience but it's nice to hear so many positive things about POR, especially when I was afraid I was going to have CBR withdrawals.

POR was my favorite resort until the last time I stayed there - I was put in the most remote Bayou building. It was just too far from everything and it felt desolate. It actually gave me the creeps to walk along the paths, at night, with the thick foliage on either side of the walkway. Not at all like the feeling of walking out of one of the mansions and seeing the food court building across the water, with more lighting.

I can't say I prefered the more rustic rooms either (compared to the mansions) although it was nice to see Brer Rabbit on the shower curtain. :)
