What are wave phones and do I need them?

I have heard different things about room service. Is room service included in your cruise price or is it something you pay extra for?

Is swimming with the dolphins really worth the expense? I would love to do this but there are 5 of us! :/

If you have any advice or tips for a family cruising for the first time that would be great! :)

Thanks!

Wave phones are cell-phone like phones that you can use onboard the ship and at Castaway Cay for contacting other people in your room. You get 2 of them in your room. You can get additional ones, if you need them, for a fee at Guest Services onboard. If they are damaged or lost = $250 will be added to your onboard account.

Room service is included in your cruise fare EXCEPT for sodas, prepackaged snacks, alcoholic drinks, those will have an extra cost.

Sorry, haven't done swimming with dolphins. I guess it would be up to you if the experience was worth the expense.

Everything PP said except don't forget to bring some ones for tipping room service.

We did the Dolphin Discovery at Nassau and loved it. If all our family members could participate on our next cruise we would do it again. Whether its worth it is really a personal decision.

Cruise tip #1 - don't try to do everything, you can't.
Cruse tip #2 - pack everything you think you'll need and take out half before departing.

Room Service! Love the BLT's, Mickey Bars, and cheese and crackers...great late night snack, but you have to remember they close at midnight or something like that!

My understanding is that room service is 24/7 except for the last night

Huh, You're right! I wonder if that changed because I remember not being able to because it was too late once...Well the 24hr is better so I can't complain :)

Since 1998, room service has been 24/7 except for the last night and the time around the muster drill. The vast majority of items are included with your cruise fare, but there is a charge for boxed/bagged candies and popcorn, cans of soda, and any "bar item." Bar items include alcohol, specialty coffees (like Starbucks stuff), smoothies, bottled water, etc. A tip to the delivery person is common.

We felt that swimming with dolphins at Discovery Cove in Orlando was better than on any island. Sure, it's a fun activity, but as OP noted, there are a lot cheaper ways to have fun.

Tip--anticipate the need for the deposit on your next cruise and book while on board for a discount and onboard credit.

And don't try to do it all--you can't, but you can go crazy trying.
