questions concerning add-ons

We are discussing adding on and have some questions about the current incentives. Could someone take the time to explain them to me or point me in the direction to finding out? Especially the developer points I keep reading about. How long will the availability of these developer points be? And since I do know you cannot bank them does your UY have anything to do with when you can use them? We have a trip planned for next january. If we purchase an add-on next month in february would we be able to use developer points for that trip? Also am I correct that we would need another member to refer us or is that just for new members? I cannot get the search to work and we'd really like to know what this is all about before we call our guide to get the ball rolling. Thanks so much.
