I'll quote the mantra that many of us use, buy where you really want to stay ,or wouldn't be disappointed if you had to stay.If you truly hate SSR ,don't buy SSR. Just an example,I like SSR.View attachment 561039

Conversely if you are open about where you stay, your home resort isn't as big of a deal.

But on our last trip, we really loved Riviera after doing a tour there, so that's where we added points.

Also another factor that seems to vary is how well some brokers seems to communicate with buyers and sellers. For a smoother experience, it might be worthwhile to look at websites that focuses on selling DVCs mainly.

And as for your question of which home resort to buy, I started off with thinking with my head and so bought SSR points resale. Then quickly realized that I have preferred resorts that I want for studios and need that 11 month advantage so bought BLT.. and now have a contract in ROFR for BWV. I also bought enough direct points to give me the blue card and also so I can book at Riviera and any future DVC resorts being built.

We actually got an offer accepted and now just waiting on ROFR. I am really excited and so is my family. I asked the sales person and I thought we still get a white card as a resale member. Is that not true?

No. You'll be able to do that after you close and your online account is set up. That could take another 2 weeks or so after closing. It's hard to wait, so I will just wish you good luck and hope the tome passes quickly for you.
