If we decide to buy a resale DVC membership, could the membership be in both DH's and my name? Or does it have to be only one of us? Do we both get a membership card or only one card for both of us?
Actually, we purchased resale and on our membership my husband is listed as the purchaser and I am listed as an additional purchaser. Either one of us can call to make reservations, change reservations, set up DME, etc. We both have full privilage on the membership.

The names will match the title documents so the way that you take title is important. We have 3 people listed on the title and 3 people listed as members.
Be sure to put both names as owners on the membership. If you use your spouse as only an associate member, your spouse will not get a membership card and will not be entitled to any discounts.
It's worth bearing in mind that if you ever need to change the names on the membership, it involves hefty attorney fees to have the documents sent to the orange county court house etc. - even before Disney will change the names on their own internal stuff.
I heard of someone who wanted to put extra family members on their membership (when 'associate member' status would've sufficed) and then realised that over the 30 year lifespan of the ownership, it would've involved unnecessary change-costs due to lifespans etc.
Anyone can be an associate member and have the ability to make bookings. It's true that they don't get member discounts when by themselves, but it depends how often they would need them. Especially if they have an annual pass which confers many of the same discounts.
