DH and I are planning on visiting for a couple of days during our upcoming WDW trip in November. Neither of us have been before. We're considering staying at one of the Universal on-site hotels, but they seem a little pricey. Does Universal use codes and such the way that Disney does? Are the front of the line priviledges worth the extra $$$? Would I be better off staying at Disney (as already reserved) and driving to Universal each day? Any help and info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Erin:)

universal dont use codes but the best discount is with the entertainment card or AAA,and fanclub discount the new royal pacific can be got from $99 just now depending on your dates and yes the FOL perk is definately worth staying on site, you can log onto www.entertainment.com for the entertainment book and you dont need the card to reserve but you will need it at check in and you can use any entertainment book location card hope this helps.

I've used all of the above! AAA, Fan Club, Entertainment rate and Hotelkingdom.com

Believe me, whatever rate you get will be worth the FOTL access onsite guest receive at the parks. It's the most awesome perk ever! You just show your cardkey and you're pointed to the Universal Express entrance and bypass the line.

Thanks for your replys, everyone! I ended up purchasing an entertainment book for $10 yesterday (of course I read today that it's good till 11/1 and we, of course, don't get there till 11/2... oh well!). Anyway, I called Universal this morning and booked Portofino Bay for 2 nights for $150/night. The Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific were both booked, so I was forced into the hotel that I really wanted anyway! Thanks again for all the tips!!!
