I'm thinking about switching to this hotel (we're currently booked at HoJo), and have some questions:

1) How long does it take to walk to the DLR entrance?

2)Parking--is the parking lot secure? Do you have to pay for parking?

3)Beds--does it have queen or double beds in the standard rooms?

4)Does it have a fridge in the standard rooms?

5)Can you request a Disneyland (or DCA) room view? Does it cost extra?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I hope this helps you out

1) How long does it take to walk to the DLR entrance? about minutes

2)Parking--is the parking lot secure? Do you have to pay for parking? we have never had an issue before with the parking

3)Beds--does it have queen or double beds in the standard rooms? it has two queens or one king size bed.

4) Does it have a fridge in the standard rooms? It does had fridges in the room and microwave oven

5) Can you request a Disneyland (or DCA) room view? Does it cost extra? I believe the way the hotel is set up is that there our two or three, Two bedrooms sweets above on the second floor that look at the park.

I have to tell you this used to be our regular place to stay the staff was friendly but up until recently we will no longer stay there. They failed to mention that they were doing construction during the last time we stayed there. Construction began at 7 o'clock in the morning!!!! There was a note in the room saying sorry for the construction. No where on there website did it say they were doing a remodel of the pool. The second thing is that this room we got was VERY VERY Dirty we were very shocked. The last thing that we were very disappointed with is my daughter couldn't find a shirt she brought with her so we asked the front desk if they found it if they could ship it back to us, They said sure no problem give us a credit card number to pay for the shipping. As regular guest or just showing good customer service they over look the shipping charge. I left my watch at the DL hotel and they were fantastic about it. They even called to make sure I received my watch back. The newest place we have discovered is the Park Vue Inn... Great service Nice rooms but the most COMFORTABLE BEDS I couldn't believe !! and its the same walking distance right next door to IHOP. Hope this helps you out

My family just changed our reservations so we could stay at the Tropicana this upcoming trip. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they offer a continental breakfast or not,

The "two queen" beds we had were doubles and they were very uncomfortable.

I'm thinking about switching to this hotel (we're currently booked at HoJo), and have some questions:

1) How long does it take to walk to the DLR entrance?

I'd say about 3-5 minutes.

2)Parking--is the parking lot secure? Do you have to pay for parking?

We felt safe leaving our car there, and no parking is free. We also left the car there after check out and spent a few hours in the parks.

3)Beds--does it have queen or double beds in the standard rooms?

Ours were queen sized beds.

4)Does it have a fridge in the standard rooms?

Yes, and a microwave.

5)Can you request a Disneyland (or DCA) room view? Does it cost extra?

I believe the only view rooms they have are suites, so yes they would cost more. We were able to view fireworks from walking outside our door though.

Thanks!

Hope that helps. We really enjoyed our stay there, and will stay there again I'm sure. We're giving Hojo a try this time.

My family just changed our reservations so we could stay at the Tropicana this upcoming trip. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they offer a continental breakfast or not,

Now..this was years ago, but the Tropicana is where we encountered the doughnut nazi. The continental breakfast was ONE not very fresh glazed doughnut each. I kid you not. They had a lady standing there glaring at you saying over and over, only one doughnut.
Again..a LONG time ago, but it always stuck with me. Other than that, we liked the hotel.

1) How long does it take to walk to the DLR entrance? 3-5 min. compare to HoJo 7-10

2)Parking--is the parking lot secure? Do you have to pay for parking?
They do not charge for parking, the lot is not secure, anyone can walk into the lot. You can leave your car in the lot after you check out if they have room, otherwise they will tell you no.

3)Beds--does it have queen or double beds in the standard rooms?
We had queens the 3 times we've stayed there

4)Does it have a fridge in the standard rooms?
Yes, and a microwave

5)Can you request a Disneyland (or DCA) room view? Does it cost extra?
No, not unless you stay in a suite. We were on the 3rd floor one trip and we walked out to the walkway to watch the fireworks.

If I were you I would stay at the HoJo, much nicer hotel, amazing staff and not that much farther than the Tropicana. The Trop used to be my first choice, now it's the HoJo. The last few times we've stay at the Trop we've had a dirty room, dirty towels and when we've asked for clean ones they took forever and they were dirty too. I had to go to the lobby with the towels (that had make up and what looked like BLOOD) to get new ones. They took me to the laundry room and we checked them all before I took them, I just asked if I could have enough for 2 days and that's what we did.

We decided to switch from BWPPI to the Tropicana, and after reading the posts here, I was starting to wonder if that was a great idea. After reading several comments on Trip Adviser, I don't feel so worried about our decision. We'll see...

we just stayed at the Tropicana in March and we were pleasantly surprised! I had booked the Camelot, but it was full, so we ended up in the Tropicana. VERY quick walk to the entrance-- we had to really hoof it when we stayed at Paradise Pier, so this was a nice change. Our room had two queen beds and was very clean. There was a small continental breakfast but you could have as much as you wanted. My husband would go up in the morning and they would give him a tray to load up and bring down to the room to the kids and I. The front desk workers were very friendly and helpful. As I said, we were pleasantly surprised. This was our first time staying "off property" and we liked it enough that we are going back in October, only this time we will stay at the sister property The Camelot. :goodvibes

I'm glad to hear you had a good experience there! I am starting to feel more comfortable with our decision to stay at the Tropicana. :)

We stayed at the Tropicana just a few weeks ago for 4 nights and, although it wasn'y super extra-ordinarily spectacular, the place worked out really well for us. All the answers I read above sound about right. You are just about as close as you can get location-wise to Disneyland. It was also nice to have both a micro and a fridge, two queens, a decent pool and hot tub, and some free muffins, juice and fruit in the morning. Our flight out wasn't until late in the day, so the front desk extended our parking pass an extra day so that we stay at the park the rest of the day after we had checked out. My husband said that he was getting served ridiculously lousy coffee everywhere inside the park, and the only decent latte he got while there was from the little place at the Tropicana (we're from Seattle!). The only complaint that we would have is that we were on the of the side of the hotel w/out an elevator so lugging the stoller up and down the stairs especially after a long day when the baby was sleeping was a pain, but not everyone has a stroller to worry about, and other than that I liked being on "inside" corridor side of the place. I have to say it was quite difficult to decide where to stay when we were planning our trip, it seemed like everyone had different opinions about everything from where to eat to where to sleep, so we just went with the Tropicana because it had all the ammenties we wanted including an affordable price and a 4th night free special on the Disney site at the time. Unless we were able to stay at the Grand Californina (I went inside both the DL Hotel and the GC Hotel and the GC was amazing, staff was insanely helpful) we would most likely stay at the Tropicana again.
