I'm sorry if this is the wrong board for these questions. I looked through and wasn't sure which board was more appropriate to post on. If there is a better one, please feel free to move me!! ;)

This August will be my first time staying on Disney property. It is also the first time I have ever purchased a vacation package. When should I expect to receive my travel documents from Disney? Our trip is 38 days from today. We are staying at POP with Free Dining and will be using DME.

My mother and sister are also going with me. They live in PA and NY state and I live in Chicago. Since I booked the package, I know the info will be sent to me. What happens if I don't get it in time to send to them? What happens if I don't receive the info at all? I'm nervous, because our mail service in Chicago is unreliable at best. DH, the kids and I went to FL the last week of January/first week of February. I sent postcards to the kids "from" the characters. DD got hers 6 weeks after we got home. DS didn't get his until 3 months after we got home. They were both sent the same day.

TIA for any help!! :flower3:

Did you book through a travel agent? If so the documents will be sent to them and then they will forward on to you. I booked through a TA and got ours about 25 days before we left. So I would think yours would be coming soon especially if you booked directly through Disney.

Michelle,
I would call ASAP, I believe you are suppose to get your travel documents 40 to 45 days ahead of time... We have booked through WDW travel as well as a regular TA and have always got them at that time mark. Just to be on the safe side... Make the call!!!! ;)

We went directly through Disney and we received our documents about 40-45 days out. We got a verification of our trip and our luggage tags in one envelope and our Magical Express items in another. I agree with other posters- I would call and make sure cause then you won't be worried about it. :wizard:

Documents don't get printed until final payment is made - and if your like me, that's at the 45 day mark! :teeth: You have to allow a few days for them to get printed, packaged, enveloped, and in the mail...then you count on the mail to get it to you.
Techinally, you don't "need" documents at all - so don't worry if you can't get them to your other family members on time, even if they have Magical Express.
If you really really want them, I wouldn't worry about it until about 2 weeks prior. You can always call and have Disney Fed Ex your documents to you.

(PS: Normally your ME documents arrive a few days before your regular documents...so that's always a sign of good things to arrive in the mail!)

short of documentation you should get whenever a balance is paid down, package documents are sent out 5 weeks prior to check-in. it has nothing to do with when the final payment is made.

DME is sent out about 6 weeks prior to check-in. as mentioned, if you book through a TA, it will go to them on your behalf.

at this point, you have no reason to be concerned. at the 38 day mark is typically when you should have DME. if you don't get it within the next few days, you should call them if you're planning on using the DME service.

Thank you so much for all of your help!! :disrocks: Now to answer some of your questions....

I did not use a travel agency. I booked directly through Disney. I paid off our trip exactly one month before the 45 day cut off mark. I took your advice and called Disney to see when I should expect my information. Unfortunately, their computers are down and won't allow them to pull up any reservations at this time. I will give them a call back tomorrow.

:thanks:

.

Thank you, again, Brad! That does make me feel better. Hopefully I will be receiving something in the mail soon.

I did not get mine yet either!:)
It sure would make the trip seem a bit closer.

My arrival date is August 16th. I received the DME package one week ago (July 11th) and the WDTC packet the next day (July 12th). So you should definitely receive them within the next week or so.

My arrival date is August 12th and I still have not received my DME package. I booked with a TA (CAA). They told me that Disney does not print the tickets until 30 days in advance. I only have 25 more days until I check-in. Perhaps I should give them another call???

i don't know what the timeframe for receiving would be in canada, but everything would go to your TA. your TA's information is incorrect, but moot. I'd suspect your TA should at least have your DME information now if it was setup.

When I booked with AAA in the US they told me they would not get the documents till about 4 weeks before we left. I really believe they say that to give themselves time to get them and go over the information, maybe even leave them sit around on their desks a bit before you call looking for them. lol I am not sure if Canada is different though.

I payed off my trip a week ago last Friday and on Monday had my Documents in the Mail already. So it was 5 weeks prior to our trip when we got them.

I called my CAA TA and she said that my documents still have not arrived (only 24 more days). I was originally staying at the AKL, but I have been moved to the Poly. She said that she received my AKL documents last week but she is waiting for my replacement Poly documents. I guess that sort of explains it (I say "sort of" because it has been two weeks since I was moved to the Poly).

I just spoke to a CM and was told I should receive my information approximately 3 weeks before my arrival date. I guess I have a couple weeks to wait still. I have read of others getting theirs before then and got my hopes up. Oh well!

Thanks, again, for all of the help!! :flower3:

you'll get package documents about 4 1/2 weeks out. like i've been saying :)
