Questions about the tickets and hotels

Hello,

Me again with more questions.

1. When I get the park hopper tickets, do they just get me into Disney Land or do I get into other places as well. I have heard a lot of people mention California Adventure.....what is that?

2. We are staying at the Laquinta. Does anyone have any bad experience with that?

3. If we are not really interested in all the rides, will we be bored? Is Disney Land more than just rides? My daughter will just be 3 and she is into Cinderella, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Lisa

1. Parkhoppers get you into both parks--DL and California Adventure--aka DCA. DCA is a park that's a tribute to CA, the history, culture, spirit, etc... Also has some fun rides, and the Aladdin show, which is a great show, plus some fun atmosphere characters and other shows. Parkhoppers mean exactly that--you can switch from one park to another as many times as you want all day. There's also Downtown Disney, but this is free to get into. It has stores, restaurants, and a movie theater.

2. I live locally, so I don't know about the hotels.

3. While I think the rides are probably the major thing, there are characters walking around, including Cinderella, plus shows, shops (once we spent the whole day just shopping), places to eat, & parades.

1) Already answered

2) I don't have any direct experience with that property, but the La Quinta chain is all pretty much uniform. Standard Days Inn type of thing.

3) Disney (both DL and DCA) are SO MUCH more than just the rides. I'm not really a ride person. I mean I like the rides, I go on the rides, but the rides without the atmosphere are just.... rides. I don't go to Six Flags or those kinds of places, I go to DL for the atmosphere.

There's a great little porch about halfway down (I think) Main Street that's a wonderful place to just park and relax for a while.

I love sitting in New Orlean's Square and listening to the music.

Last time I was at the parks was with a 3 and a 5 year old. There were some things that 3 year old didn't like. He didn't like Pirates because he thought it was "too sad". He didn't like the roller coaster type of rides, he likes rides that go slow (he's really into looking at details). He loved Small World, the Jungle Cruise, those kinds of attractions. If we had taken him to DCA I'm sure he would have loved whatever the show with the big blue dog is (can't remember the name offhand). I believe he liked Muppets, but wasn't too fond of the 3D glasses.

Your child will find a whole myriad of things that interest her, and some of those things will surprise you.

Just to add... The DCA entrance faces the Disneyland entrance, so you can easily walk between the two parks. DCA has some fun stuff that your 3 year old will enjoy - the Electrical Light Parade, Playhouse Disney (Bear in the Blue House, Rolie Polie Olie, Stanley), all of the water play areas, etc.

La Quinta used to be Hawthorn Suites, Ltd. Some people have said good things, and some not so good -- are you committed to that hotel, or would you like suggestions for others?

There are plenty of rides that you & your dd will enjoy - most 3 year olds love the outside ones - Dumbo, Casey Jr, Storybook Land Canal Boats, It's a Small World, Tiki Room (if it's open), cars on Main Street .... There is entertainment all around Disney, and characters, too. One thing you might consider -- kids like to get the characters' autographs -- you might get a little book and get a big pen, and have your little one get autographs; and even if you don't, Disneyland Resort has so much to offer, you're going to have a really nice time.

Thanks to all that posted.........that clears up a lot for me! We are kind of committed to the LaQuinta for one reason. We have 3 free nights that my husband got and so we are only going to have to pay for 1 night. We are trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

Thanks again....I can't wait. We will be there Oct 18 to the 22nd.
