Questions about the resorts

If you had trouble walking after a long day of well, walking, which DVC resort would you recommend to others?
I am getting really freaked out that we are going to BWV in Sept, because I keep reading about the long hallways.
I believe our guide told us that OKW doesn't have elevators, so that is definitely out.
I am also waitlisted for VWL, because I have always wanted to stay there.
I know room requests mean nothing, but what could I ask for to make the trip more accessible?

There are two basic layouts for DVC Resorts. The first style is hotel style, where rooms are laid out in hallways and you enter from a single parking lot. BWV, BCV, VWL, AKV are layed out in this style. The second style is more of a condo layout, where rooms are layed out in multiple buildings and each building has a parking lot. OKW and SSR are laid out like this.

If you're driving to/from the parks, you'll have less walking from the car to the room at a condo-style resort. If you're using Disney transportation, the differences may not be as pronounced.

The other side of the coin is the distance to things within the resort. At SSR, for example, it's a much farther walk to the Market/Restaurant and main pool than it is from someplace like VWL.

I am going to switch my reservation tomorrow. I just don't think I will be comfortable at Board Walk, even though I REALLY wanted to stay there.

The convenience of being located at Epcot's back door will more than make up for the long hallways. :)

Maybe, Rob, but if you are going to MK or AK, you'll have a hike from the bus. Or your car if you drive. The parking lot at BWV is not that convenient.

BCV has a closer parking lot, you are a very short walk from Epcot, not too far from the bus stop and you can always take the boat from Epcot over to DHS (I'd bet catching the boat at Epcot would be shorter than catching it at the YC).

VWL is close to the bus stop for WL and VWL. And the walk to the boat dock isn't that bad.

Even OKW isn't that bad because of the multiple bus stops. If you don't like stairs you could always request a first floor.

Agreed about the parking lots, but within the whole scheme of visiting WDW the parking lot walk is insignificant. Seems a shame the OP "REALLY" wants to stay at BWV, but won't be because of the hallway length.

OT: Are you guys ready for your trip? Does it look like your walls will get done while you're gone? Hope things work out soon. :worried:
