its been about 12 or 13 years since I was at disneyland. used to go all the time when I lived in california. the one thing I always wanted to do but never did was stay at the disneyland hotel. I know things have changed a lot since i was there, new hotels, etc, but I still have a hankering to stay at the DLH. I seem to remember the monorail went right to it...does it still? any tips or any good or bad to tell about it? we're planning a trip to my 20th reunion for next summer and definitely want to stop at DL for a night.

No, it is not at the hotel proper any more. Frankly way back, if you were in the "wrong tower" you might have to walk a fair distance anyway.

Monorail stops at Downtown Disney, which is a wonderful strip of shops, theaters, resturaunts that directly connects the DLH to Disneyland/California Adventure.

From the Siera and Marina Tower the DD Monorail stop is just a few minute walk. From the Bonita Tower, maybe 5 -7 minutes.

Watch Expedia.com for great last minute rates!!!!

By the way, Grand Californian hotel is closest to Disneyland. It is Directly attached to California Adventure (the old DL parking lot:) )
It is pricey, but a nice splurge if it is in your budget.

The monorail does not directly go to the hotel anymore but it has not moved. ;)
They tore down the old garden rooms at the DLH and used that area for part of DTD. So, it just seems as if the monorail is farther away.

Boy, the Bonita Tower seems so much closer to the monorail now than it did years ago. It seems as we walked forever when we stayed at that tower. Now it seems like a short jaunt.

Then again, we stayed in Bonita Tower the first time (pre DTD) when my so was 2. The walk may have just seemed longer.;) Now that he is 10, I have to catch up to him!

Yeah, the monorail situation is interesting. everyone thinks it moved, but no, haha..... anyway

They moved the pools also, and the resort grounds are nice. Its different than it used to be, but we like it very much, we like to visit more often than we actually sleep there.

I like the vintage fantasy water show, and the waterfalls, while carrying my drink from the Lost Bar. I love catching a wedding in progress. I love the quiet pool in the back.

Its not as close as the GCH, but more convientently located than the PP.

Have a blast!!!!

thanks!!! now I don't know what I am going to do. sigh. and all this talk about the candy cane inn makes it look like a good deal and close by. guess we'll see when we get closer what kind of rates we can get.
