Questions about Staying offsite-cheaply

So, I've been reading here, and betterbidding etc and before I continue, could you please let me know if I have this correct.

I can use either Priceline or Hotwire to get bascially 1/2 price hotels. Hotwire is a little more expensive but it's easier to tell what hotel you are going to be getting, correct?

My biggest concern is getting a hotel in my budget, then find out they tack on another 20 bucks in resort fees and parking.

I would rather pay an extra $5.00 or so upfront and be fairly confident I know what the resort fees and parking fees are going to be prior to pulling the trigger.

I sure would love to be able to get something 3 star-ish under $50.00 parking/resort fees included. Also, if it's not too much to ask, I'd like to be close to the parks.

Any help would be most appreciated. In the meantime, I'll continue to read and try to absorb all of this, as it is all new to me.

Thanks in advance.

I think hotwire lists free parking as an amenity and will tell you if you have a resort fee. I don't know when you plan on going but the hotels in the LBV area have been a bit pricier than say Maingate area or even Seaworld area. Check betterbidding for the possible options you would be getting to make sure you are ok with them.

I have used hotwire a lot for hotels - actually use them more than any other website and I have been very pleased. I haven't had any hotels that I wasn't happy with really. You will have taxes and recovery fees so make sure you are ok with the total price before you accept it. Right now I am staying at the extended stay deluxe near Sea World - booked for $43/night through hotwire but with taxes and fees it comes to $47/night - perfectly fine for me and I am happy with the hotel just something to be aware of when you book.

Also when using hotwire, I pay attention to the approval rating and reviews - if the approval rating is over 85% I am much more likely to book.

Also another good site I have used to book hotels cheaply is lastminutetravel.com - it is an opaque site like hotwire but you can see photos of the hotel you are booking which does help identify it - I have booked the Hampton Inn LBV for $56/night this way.

Good Luck!:thumbsup2

Sorry, I meant to mention that I was going to be in WDW Oct 22-Nov 1

So, I have a lot of time....just wanting to make sure I do Priceline or Hotwire right and not screw up.
