I'm taking advantage of the AP rate of $164 at SSR. I haven't stayed at DVC resort since the year the Boardwalk opened. We usually stay at a moderate or value. Is there anything different about check in? Is there daily maid service? I was looking at pics on allears. I see there is a pool table at the Turf Club, can anyone use it? It caught my son's eye. Are there boat rentals there? There was a pick of a room with board games. Will we also have access to this room? Is there anything else I should know?

SSR is a great resort! Yes, anyone can use the pool table. There is not daily maid serve in vacation club resorts (although you can pay for it if you like). On the 4th day of your stay they come and change yoir towels and empty the trash and on the 8th day, ther eis a full cleaning. No boat rentals but Downtown Disney is very close and you can rent boat there. There is a Community Hall with games and scheduled activites all during the day. You can also rent bicycles and surrey bikes.

We leave for there in 38 days! :goodvibes

Have a great time!

If you are getting an AP rate at SSR, you are making a reservation directly with Disney and not with DVC. So you will get daily cleaning. Limited housekeeping only occurs with DVC stays (on points or cash reservations through Member Services). The SSR studio will have one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa, plus a small kitchen area with microwave, under counter refrigerator, toaster and coffee pot. You will have access to any pool tables or game rooms as long as you are a guest there.

For DVC points stays, if you stay 7 nights or less, you get your trash removed and towels replaced on day 4. If you stay 8 nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash removed and towels replaced on day 8. That cycle repeats for longer stays.

We stayed there last December. It's really a nice place and very close to Downtown Disney. Our older teens had a great time exploring on their own.
We didn't have enough time to take advantage of all the activities and wished we had more time to just spend a day or two at the resort. There is a bike rental barn, spa and a gym.

If you book through CRO and don't use/rent DVC points I believe you get daily mousekeeping.

How on earth did you get such a great rate? We're going in November and paying $467 a day. It is well worth it, and we are not dvc club members, and appreciate the housecleaning daily. We are staying in a one bedroom. Love SSR. :goodvibes

I think through Sept 29th they have AP, DVC, and FL resident rates for studio rooms at OKW and SSR. I got it in an email from Disney, but I've seen it on mousesavers too.

Does it cost extra to use the gym?

Great information! Thank so much everyone!! If you think of something else, please let me know.

Thought of more questions

Is Artist's Palette only opened for breakfast and lunch? I didn't see a dinner menu on Allears.

Where can I refill the refillable mugs?

Dinner is the same as lunch. It's counter service.

Artist's Pallete is open all day. Probably 6am until midnight. We had breakfast there several mornings. The service was quick and the food was made fresh while we waited. The gift shop and Artist's pallete share the same floor space, so it is a bit cramped, but never overly crowded. The staff bend over backwards to wait on you. Excellent customer service. There is plenty of seating.

As far as the mugs - I guess there is a fill station right there. We did not use them, as we stocked up on drinks and put them in the frig. The studio has lots of storage room/space near the entrance. The small kitchen area also has good space for storage. Having a balcony was nice.

I really liked my stay in SSR. I stayed on a member's points. I would definately stay there again. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks!

Are there any 1st floor studio rooms? If so, I'd assume they have a patio then, instead??

Thanks!! I think all my questions are answered!! Can't wait to go, I'm already packed, lol!

There is a mug refill station at Artist's Palette.
There is another located at "On The Rocks"...the pool bar by the main pool.
