Questions about Sapphire Beach - St. Thomas

Yes....we have done it several times...once with a DCL excursion and a few times on our own via cab. Much cheaper to do it on your own.

I'm assuming there is a fee to use the beach/pool/facilities. Do you know how much it is? Where do you actually pay it? Is there some type of a list showing what their water sports are and how much they charge?

We only paid for taxi fare....we were not charged for chairs. We did not do any water sports so I do not know what the charge is for them or if they even have them. We had a cooler with us for drinks and bought some snacks from the gift shop...we stayed about 4 hours so did not really need lunch...we had that when we got back to the ship.

Our friends took their son to the pool and was not charged. This was last summer so I do not know if things have changed or not.

Here is their website which is geared for resort guests staying on property....don't know all the rules for day guests. As I said we had no problem and no charge for entrance or using chairs.

I just called the resort - thank goodness for 800 #'s! Here's the information I got from the Water Sports Rental dude. I told him right up front that we would not be resort guests, but from a cruise ship.

-Free use of pool and beach
-$5/day for non-resort guests for the use of chairs
-Water Sports rates

Snorkeling equipment - $5/hour

Kayak
1 seater - $10 - 1/2 hour; $15/hour

2 seater - $15 - 1/2 hour; $20/hour

Paddle boats - same as 2 person kayak

Jetskis - $40 - 1/2 hour. Must be 18 to rent, but anyone can drive as long as there is an 18 year old passenger on board.

Parasailing - Single - $55/pp - 10 - 12 minutes; Tandem - same cost, but you are up about 15 minutes

Sounds like the place for us!

That is great info....I am sure you will like it.

The few times we have been there we saw iguanas walking around in one area....all the kids there were fascinated with them....they are not on the actual beach but on a concrete area that is behind one section of the beach....they do not bother anyone...but we were advised not to try to touch them as it was mating season!!!

The taxi ride was not bad....most taxi's on St. Thomas are the open air type like the pick below....

I'm confused! (It doesn't take much!) If it is free for the use of the pool and beach, what is the "$5/day for non-resort guests" fee for? Forgive my ignorance!:teeth:

We went on our on on the June 26th cruise. It is beautiful there. If you can ,go early before all of the other people get there from all of the cruise ships. There was an open air patio seating area with tables and chairs that was perfect if you want to stay out of the sun. There is also a gift shop with snacks and beverages. We just got off the ship as soon as we were allowed to, and walked over to the taxi people and asked which beach they reccommended. They said Megan's Bay was prettier, but much more crowded and more expensive. Our cab ride over there was like a thrill ride, so hang on to your stuff!!:scared: Our cab driver came back to get us at a predetermined time. Have a great time!

On the 7/24 Magic, the $5 charge was for the chairs. We didn't do any water sports. Use of the pool was free and was a godsend because my DD's didn't like the beach - it was very shelly.
