We've always done express check out and taken advantage of the room charging privledges with our resort stays. We're trying to balance out our spending money between our Disney Visa and Debit Card:

How exactly does Disney do this room charging process?

Would it be possible to put my debit card down as the room charge, but prior to checking out... go down and pay off the majority of the balance with my Visa or vice versa?

Basically I just want to know if I can make a payment to my room charge (prior to check out) with a different card that's connect to my room charge...

TIA

Disney will require that you put down a credit card for incidentals. Tell them when you check-in that you do NOT want express check-out. Prior to check-out time, you can go to the front desk to settle your charges. Then you can tell them how much you want charged to what card.

I've used this process when using Disney gift cards for my room charges. Just make sure you get to the front desk before check out time or you run the risk of your card getting charged.

Edited to add:
One more thing, I advise against using a debit card when you check in. I'm not sure how Disney works with them, (someone else please chime in)but other hotels I've stayed at always put a hold on my debit card, pending final charges.

Disney just runs $1 through on your debit when you check in. They don't put a hold on the funds. We always used our debit card at WDW with no problems.

That is good to know about the debit card, because that is what we will be using.

Yes you can go down to the front desk at any time and pay it down with whatever you choose.

We use our disney Visa rewards card and make one lump payment about mid-week . We have also used Cash to pay it down as it was given to us right before we left so we just took it and used that.

Just a quick question, I am contemplating using the KTTW card to pay for everything instead of just using my Disney Visa but I am not sure exactly how it works. What does everyone think is the better option? Information would be appreciated! TIA!

What exactly are the advantages of using your room key? If you're going to use a credit card, why not just bring that and charge to wherever you want? Do most credit cards have a charge for each purchase usually? If that's the case, then I can see why because then it would just be one big charge at the end. Otherwise, I'm not so sure what else the benefit would be. Any info would be appreciated. Also, I guess it would be more convenient if you wanted to carry around just one card, huh? Thank you.:)

Upon check-in you will be required to surrender an arm or a leg. You usually have your choice, but if they are experiencing a run on one or the other they may dictate which you have to leave. Upon check-out, you’ll have to surrender the other, plus your first born. Optionally, you can choose express check-out, in which case you can leave your limb and child outside your door on your last night.

I've stayed twice - call me Matt.

The advantage to doing this is your Credit card is most likely only in the hands of 2 people (check-in and out CM.) This reduces the chance of your number being stolen.

It's also nice to have just one charge to look at and then the itemized bill from Disney to compair your charges to. (again more secure if you see more then one charge pop up from the area rather then a bunch ).

It also allows you to only carry a small amount of Cash (we do $20 each) into the parks.

If you leave your Disney Visa as the secure card you still get the Reward dollars that are charged to it.

We only take the KTTK card ,APs (not needed if MYW tickets on your KTTK card),and a DL into the parks just less to worry about and less to fiddle with getting fastpasses and so forth.
