Questions about reservations & walk-ups

The system is absolutely allowing crazy stacking. It let me book two tables for the same restaurant, party of 4 and party of 6, plus another one at a different restaurant all within 5 minutes of each other. I dropped the two I'm not using immediately but this is why there are no tables anywhere. Insane. I bet there are some folks holding like 4 reservations for Space 220 for each day of their trips. I feel so badly for first-timers, or the once-in-a-lifetime folks, especially if they're staying off-property. They don't have a chance.
It is really frustrating. I feel awful for them too. I have read so many posts on Facebook from people who are looking for help, not understanding why they can’t find anything. Then people will comment something like I sent you a message. I wonder how many of those messages are offering them reservations for money?

I also wonder whether travel agents might be hoarding reservations too, just in case, now that the system allows it. They want happy clients. Most normal guests will drop a reservation at one restaurant when they book one they want at another, allowing for more frequent turnover. But I've got 2 different notification services set up and haven't received a single one in the past week, not even at say 3am or something where I just missed it. I've never had that happen before, even our very first trip when BOG had just opened and was at peak demand. Something always popped up before within a week or so of setting up notifications, but that was when guests were not allowed to stack. I know they're also running at reduced capacity, but allowing guests to stack doesn't help things at all.

I could definitely see travel agents doing that. Some of the posts I am seeing on Facebook are insane. I don’t understand what Disney is thinking! I finally have everything we wanted except breakfast next Wednesday. Not everything is the time or date we wanted but we are making it work. We have reservations Saturday morning for ‘Ohana at 7:30. We have alerts set up for Topolina, ‘Ohana, and Chef Mickey’s for next Wednesday morning. Hopefully one of them will open up for breakfast since we don’t care about the time. If not we will do ‘Ohana Saturday. Trying to get reservations has been such an annoying pain in the butt. I hope you are able to find what you have been looking for.

In the end some of it becomes the thrill of the hunt and rush of winning by getting that hard to get ADR. Last trip there were a couple that we just loved. A good amount while a decent/good meal did not if we were honest with ourselves, live up to the hype and stress worrying about it. It is just a meal in the end at most places. Im scaling way back this trip. Picking a few I know are worth "the hunt"and letting the rest ride.I bet I wont starve and will still have some great meals anyways!
