Questions About Renting Points

I'm seriously considering renting points, but am a little afraid of the process and trust involved. I saw Daddio's site. I'm curious about that--does renting through him provide any additional security for me as a renter? What is the benefit as a renter of using his service?

Davids site and his reputation are quite good. If trust is what you most value, I think his service may be a good fit for you. I do believe that the going rate on his site is $13/point, if you rent directly from a DVC member the going rate is about $10/point.

What I think I understand is that David's site rents points for $13, but you still contract with the individual owner. The convenience of going through his site is certainly worth something, but I'm wondering whether he does some sort of screening on the point-owners in addition to matching me up with them?

With dvcrequest you will pay the service, not the individual member. I believe your contract will be with the company. I don't think you will even have any contact with the member, only David's staff.

In addition, I don't think the member will even get all of his money until after you have checked in at the resort - so there is some incentive for the member in order to get his full payment.

Many of the members dvcrequest deals with have worked with him for awhile and he has a good working relationship with them. I think he has had few problems over his years of doing this and am not aware of any renter who ended up without a reservation at arrival.

I have not used him but I believe I read that the owner does not get the full payment amount until you check in.

I am sure someone who has used him can be of more help. But, going through him does give you a go between with the owner and he works to make sure that everything goes well.

Good luck!

Thanks for this info! That is just what I was hoping for!
