Questions about possibilities for viewing fireworks from outside park

I would really like to try and view the Magic Kingdom fireworks on our first evening at Walt Disney World without going to the park. I have read that you can eat at one of the resorts and view the fireworks from there. My family consists of two adults and two children in their late teens. Would the atmosphere at Ohana be too childish for us? We are not "fancy" eaters so do not want the more upscale choices at the Grand Floridian or Contemporary and I don't want a character dinner. Are there any possibilities in the Fort Wilderness area? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Our favorite viewing location for the fireworks is the beach at the Polynesian resort. We like it better than either the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian. The Kona Cafe is fantastic for dinner - is that too fancy? You can check out the menu at AllEarsNet, but the menu is relatively inexpensive (for a Disney sit down meal, at least). It has a very casual atmosphere, and I bet the "kids," even though they're teenagers, would love the kiddie cone. FH and I do, and we're in our early 20s.

Here's the adult dinner menu.

Edit: oh, and we LOVE 'Ohana for fireworks. We had a wonderful time, it's a lot of fun, the food is delicious, and the service is great. It's definitely not too childish.

O'Hana's is really good. The food is not that spicy and there is plenty. Request a table behind the bar for a slightly quieter dinner. Then head out to the main beach to view the Electrical Water Parade & Wishes. Another option would be to dine at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, then head over to the Polynesian or Contemporary to view the fireworks.

If you want to check out the menu for O'Hana's or WCC, click on the links below:

Sara,
Have you seen Wishes before?
This is probably not what you want to hear, but if you have never seen Wishes before, you really need to see it from inside the park to get the total experience. Having seen it from both inside and outside, there is a MAJOR difference in seeing it inside and outside.
Just something to consider.
