OK - we're leaving in a few weeks for POR and ASMu. We've been to ASMu before, so I know what to ask for there. But we have no idea what to expect at POR.... so

1) Is there a certain building or area that we should request?

2)What are the closest buildings to the food court?

3)Are some buildings noisier than others?

4) Are requests for certain areas generally granted at this resort? I know that some resorts are better than others when it comes to this sort of thing.

5) How is the bus service? And where are the bus stops? Are they centrally located or spread out around the resort?

Thanks for any info you can give me! We are so excited!!

here is a resort map link

we stayed at Magnolia terr. last visit here...lovely walk over by the pool and then on to the main bldg which houses the food court....5 min walk at most and sooo pretty along the way....we never even went over to the alligator bayou section....

you can request a cetain bldg, no guarentees, but we have always got what we requested or you could request mansions vs bayou section and leave the rest to chance...

there are outside corridors...we never heard anyone....

I am not sure where all the bus stops are...more than one...there was one that we got to by walking out the back of the mansion and through a parking lot....bus came here first ...lots of buses, not a long wait ever

the boat to DTD is very enjoyable and a MUST DO !!

POR is tied with BC for our favorites....ENJOY YOUR TRIP:wave:

We are just back from POR. We originally requested Magnolia Terrace but took Paterre Place to get a connecting room. The walk was not more than 5 minutes from Paterre Place and it was recently renovated. Hopefully you can guestimate the distance from other buildings based on mine and the previous posters estimated walk times.

There is a main bus stop at the main building and 3 internal bus stops within the resort. The buses seemed to come very quickly and our only time standing was an early bus to MK for early entry. Other than that the buses were right on schedule.

The boat to DTD is a great leisurely ride and takes you right by the old treehouses of the disney institute which are still there and sadly fully furnished but many have trees laying on them from the storms the past couple months.

Just a word of warning don't rent the sea raycer boats at the marina because they are terrible slow and very boring to drive.

Enjoy your trip.

jfranklyn - the map princess lovers mom provided should answer most of your questions. I've stayed at POR several times and only had a noise problem once and that was when someone kept their crying baby outside for about 30 minute late one evening. So I wouldn't fault POR for that.

We usually requested Magnolia Terrace or Oak Manor and was able to get a room there. Busses ran fairly regularly and frequently and there are three stops to catch a bus.

ncgolfer - I too was there right before Jeanne hit (left Friday evening) and noticed the treehouses in disarray. Our boat guide stated that WDW have to upgrade them to meet the American with Disabilities Act before they can be rented again. If WDW decides to tear them down, they can't rebuild since that area has been rezoned as a wetlands area.
