Questions about planning trip??

So we have agreed that we should travel in 8/09 and stay at the POP. It looks so much fun and my kids will love it. I know the rooms are smaller but we don's plan on spending much time in it other than to sleep! With that being said. How do I find out more about "free dining" and how do you choose which restuarants and character dining to do? Any advice would be helpful. I have been to WDW as a young adult but my DH and children have never been. By the way at the timeof our trip my DD will be 8 and my DS will be 2.5.

We love POP!

The free dining promotion is usually announced in April and it is usually for the last week in August through end of Sept.

You can still book your vacation now and then when the free dining it announced, you can call back and have it added to your reservation. Just keep in mind that there are only a certain amount of rooms at each resort for free dining so make sure you book it as soon as it is announced!

As far as dining options, the restaurant board here has a lot of info. I aslo like allearsnet.com as they have a ton of info and reviews.

DH and i did free dining a few years ago and loved it- it was back when appetizers were included too and it was so much food.

as for restauarnts- there are tons of great ones- i agree, i like Allears for reviews and menus. they list the menu items and prices, so it makes it easier to decide. There is even a food photo thread on the dining board, so you can see pictures of the food.

some of our favorites for character meals are Crystal Palace for breakfast (pooh and friends)- we usually do it late- like 10;30, that way we can get into the MK at 8am or so, ride a ton of stuff and then do a late breakfast. the later time is good because it isn't as crowded. so we either do first seating or last usually. it means a little more character time sometimes.

we also like Chef MIckey's dinner at the Contemporary and Liberty Tree Tavern at MK, although I hear the characters are leaving that venue.

The princess norway breakfast was nice too.

my all time favorite is Ohana at the Poly.
