My brother and I were HUGE pin traders back in 2000-2003 or so.. most our pins are from WDW and some are from Disneyland. Since that time, I've grown and married.. and I just dug my pins up! A lot of them have the years printed on them from various occasions (Marathon 2001, Spring Break, Easter.. etc.), and I was just curious where I could go to figure out what I should do with these!

I don't know how I feel about selling them, but I wouldn't mind finding out the value. Now, I know there was a disclaimer on this board about not selling them here.. that's not what I'm wanting to do! I just want to get information about a source where I could find out information about value and what the best thing I should do with them is.. I know I could easily Google it, but I'd rather get information from someone who has knowledge and experience than a search engine.. plus, if I save them for my kids, I just want to make sure that I'm not giving them something worth a lot of money to lose or break!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Disney pins are more a nostalgic type of value then a monetary value. Sure there are some that are worth quite a bit but it's hard to say really. I always suggest doing a search on eBay for ended auctions to see what the pins might be going for.

Another source would be pinpics.com. There you can guage the value by comparing how many people want it versus how many have it for trade.

Pinpics does not assign values tho, eBay is the place to get a dollar amount of worth.

Is is just me or have pin values just about bottomed out? Even most POH pins go for original sale price.

It all depends...
I have learned to stick to low LE pins...
they have been maintaining their value..and lately...
I have been mainly buying framed sets.
Most rack pins that are open edition...sell for less than face.

Some older rack pins still hold crazy high values as they are impossible to find (or impossible to find legit versions) so it depends on the pin...

Yes..of course you are right..
I was speaking in general.
Price depends on the amount of collectors for a particular pin...
I have found..that some of the more obscure pin characters..like Jiminy cricket,
Gaston[from b&b]..ect..,
have collectors that will pay the moon.
I collect Hanukkah pins...among others..
and..when a rare Hanukkah goes up on auction...beware...:lmao:
The last one I fought over and lost went for 98 bucks.:scared1:
Also..I have found..that other Ebay sellers will intentionally cut the value of a pin..
case in point...
You have a newer pin...
you buy 3....to sell 2 of em....
The first one sells for almost twice what you paid...say..25 bucks...[after cost and fees..you may have profited 8 or 9 bucks]
a local near the parks will see that...
and...buy the pin with a cm discount...
and..list 10 of them..for 15..about what it cost you..with tax.
Then..another will see that..
put em up on ebay for 12...
and..soon..they are selling..for less than cost. ..
and...that is why..most recent rack pins...including LE's...
are failing to hold much value..in the short term.
