I'm seriously thinking about doing this for our trip in Aug. I have some reservations though, one being that it would be outside in August. :sunny: Also, we're staying at WL, so is there a bus to FW from there or would we have to go to a park first? Since it's under a pavilion, I assume if it storms they wouldn't cancel it. I'd also like to try Artist's Point since we're staying at WL, and I don't want to do two 2 TS meals. The BBQ sounds like a lot of fun though, and we do have the DDE, so if we have to pay OOP for something, we could use that. Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure about the bus situation from WL to FW. I'm sure someone else can share that. My girls & I have attended the Backyard Barbeque twice
--at Mardi Gras & on July 4th. The area is covered & they did not cancel it when the weather was storming when we were there. The food was good. The character interaction was fun--photographs but no autographs. The music was great if you like country. The girls loved line dancing with the characters.

We did this a few years ago, the kids were 2, 5 and 7 at the time. It was a very hot day-mid May-and where it was outside, it was a bit uncomfortable. I thought the food was okay, buffet style bbq. It was just too much commotion going on. Everytime the characters came out, they were bombarded by a ton of kids. Most of the time, we waited in each characters line for pictures and autographs. (just like we had already done during the day at the parks :guilty: )I didn't think it was worth the money. They did a few line dances, but not as many as I had thought. The following two visits we did the Hoop-De-Do. :thumbsup2 Awesome!!! Better food, better atmosphere, air-conditioned, and a much better show! We are going again in June. :cool1:

:confused3 We did this last Oct. Food was ok, buffet bbq with hamburgers, chicken, corn, hot dogs, etc... Music was good, cause we like country, it was the seating and dancing that was not so great. They have long picnic tables set up that are first come, first serve. Now, of course everyone started lining up to go in about 1/2 or so before to get a good seat (meaning near the dance floor). So, we did get a good seat at the edge of the dance floor close to the stage. You could see from the side, but it was good. Now, here comes the bad part. If you got up from your table, even for a moment to eat or dance, someone sat in your seat!!! When the show began (they have a rodeo show and line dancing) My DH and I sat facing the stage and my 2 kids were sitting with their backs to the table and us facing the stage. At one point they got up to dance and other people actually sat in their seats!! I said, excuse me but my kids are sitting there, they are dancing. Someone actually had the nerve to say no!! The dancing was also ok, not as much as I thought and the character interaction was tough because they only came out sporadically and when they did, they were mobbed.
IMO, I think I paid $28 or so a person, not worth the money! For a Disney event, it was not well organized or controlled.
Also, we had to go back to the BWV from there and it was a nightmare cause MK was closed and there only bus choices. Took us over an hour. To WL though there is probably a ferry.

Try the HDDR! More expensive, but worth it!!

Thanks everyone! This convinced me -- I made ADR's at Hoop-Dee-Doo. Plus they have unlimited beer and wine? No wonder everyone loves this show! :rotfl:
