On my Jan. 2012 trip with DH, DD17, and DD13 we will be staying at Coronado Springs with the Dining Plan. We would like to dine at Maya Grill since it would be very convinent, but I have seen so many negative reviews. I have also seen some good reviews too, though, so I am unsure of whether to take a chance on it. Those who have been there recently for dinner, what do you think? For Breakfast? Lunch?
I am also confused on whether it is a buffet or al a carte? Thanks all for your help:confused3 hopefully we can get this figured out

While it's not recent, but I visited in 2009 (twice for dinner) and 2010 (one dinner and one breakfast). (Both late Sept).

In 2009, both meals were VERY good. Service was top notch and had a great experience both times.

2010 was the polar opposite. The food in 2010 was very bland and tasteless. The service was excruciatingly slow (took nearly 2 hours for 2 people for dinner). Breakfast wasn't much better, as my breakfast skillet (no eggs) was very dry and the service was not very attentive.

Now, I could have caught an off time for the restaurant, but I'm skipping it this year (and likely next, as I'll be likely staying somewhere else).

The meals were all a la carte now. They had a breakfast buffet before 2010, but it was changed.

Hi,

I went to the Maya Grill twice in Jan 2011 for breakfast ( staying at Coronado Springs ) I had the pancakes with orange juice and coffee.

The pancakes were good and service was good also. An interesting touch was the coffee coming in a labelled " Maya Grill mug" rather than non descript mugs at other resorts.

We ate there last Sept for a late dinner.
We really enjoyed our meals. The service was prompt and quick to clear our empty dishes. They also made some excellent suggestions for dessert!
We are eating here again this Sept..it is really about not traveling again once we arrive to CSR!!
I say you should give it a try. Everyone has different tastes and opinions!

It's a la carte, I think.

While staying at Coronado (in '09), we ate there once and found it to be just okay. We were there for dinner and it was quite late - as we had a late arrival. The portions were pretty big, if I remember correctly, but I felt like the food was mediocre at best. Could have been just the time of day though.

I ate their last August and really enjoyed it. The food was good, but the service we had stuck out, and doing a great job! I would defiantly find a time to go back in the future.

Another benefit is that it's one of the few "Disney" places that you can make a reservation for through Open Table. :)
