Questions about HOJOs

We have never stayed offsite before, but are seriously considering Howard Johnsons. Can anyone give me a basic rundown of the pros and cons of the different sections and views and anything else we might need to consider? TIA!

I plan to stay there myself. I keep hearing nothing but good things about it.

Lorealle is the manager at the HoJo that posts on here regularly.

They have three kinds of rooms. Standard, deluxe and premium.

Standard = 2 double beds. Most of these rooms are in the 4 pavillion buildings in the center couryard (bldgs. 3-6). None of these have views of DL, but some have pool views.

Deluxe = 2 queen beds, mostly in Bldg. 2. Bldg. 2 is the farthest North on the property so also the farthest from DLR. It takes about 2 minutes to get from this bldg. to the lobby, so I don't consider it a big deal. Bldg. 2 is 4 stories, and is the quietest and most rooms overlook the quiet pool.

Premium = These rooms have 2 queens, and are located in Bldg. 1 with a Disney View. You can see the Matterhorn, monorail, Space Mtn and ToT from your balcony. The HoJo is in the process of putting microwaves in all of their premium rooms. The top floor of this tower has vaulted ceilings with skylights which some people like, and others' don't because of early morning light issues and daytime napping issues. I have found that some of the rooms in Bldg. 1 experience freeway noise. Always best to request western-most rooms in this tower.

If you are wanting a King room, I think that is classified as a deluxe (not really sure), but most of them face the freeway in Bldg. 1, and they have some in Bldg. 2.

None of their rooms have a sleeper sofa (except their suites -- but they only have 3 of those in the entire property), but you can request a rollaway for $7. The rooms are very spacious and have more than enough room for a rollaway.

we are staying in a Premium room this april! Should be fantastic, we have heard amazing things and we are excited to try it out!

We stayed at the HoJo for a week in 2006 and have re-booked for this summer. Loved it! The staff is exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable. We chose it based on Mousesavers reviews, and were not disappointed. We wanted something close to DL, as dd was still in the napping stage in the afternoons at the time. Mimi's Cafe is very close and family friendly. Sometimes we took the shuttle to DL, sometimes walked. No problems. They have a very decent gift shop, where we found some things we had never seen before. We had a room by the adult pool (a NQQ2) which was great. I have heard that it can be a little loud by the larger family pool at night, but I couldn't hear anything from where we were. One thing: The hotel is so close to DL that when the evening fireworks go off it really is loud. Our dd is afraid of loud fireworks, so we pretty much had to leave the park and try to get back to our room before they went off, but it still woke us up if we were sleeping. I kind of liked it myself.
