Questions about HH

When my mom joins us at OKW, we request "1st floor for medical reasons." She has had a hip replacement. What do I request at HH? Something like "main building for medical reasons?" Will they know what I mean if I request it that way?

Also, do I have to specify a dedicated 2 bedroom at HH if I want the 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom?

Is there any place to rent a car nearby? We will rent ours at the airport but my mom only wants to rent a car for 2 days or so.

Last one! At the beach house, are there a bunch of stairs she needs to climb to get inside?

You will need to specify that you'll need access to an elevator for medical reasons. The Lodge (buildings 11 and 12) is the only area with an elevator. All rooms are located on the 2nd floor or higher (no ground floor villas at the resort).

All 2BR's at HH have 2 queens. The 21 lock-off 2BRS are usually used only as 1BR's and Studios and rarely are offered as a 2BR. These will all have the sleep sofa in the studio portion.

There is also an elevator at the Beach House for those with stair difficulty.

You will need a car at HH, but there are rental agencies available if you only want a vehicle for a portion of the stay.

When you make your reservations, ask for a handicapped room. We got one several years ago. They are in the main buildling with elevators.

Remember that all food services as well as the general store are located in a seperate bldg next to the pool, on the 2nd floor, not in the main lodge building. Only the check in desk and the pool table room (Murgy's Den) are in the main building.

The building with the GS and Tide Me Over is accessed via stairs, but there is a ramp on the opposite side of the bldg near the hot tub/spa area. The pathways between bldgs at the resort are blacktopped, so if your Mom uses a wheelchair it will be easily accessible.

At the Beach house, park underground so that you can access the elevator. There are several steps down, leading to the boardwalk to the beach, and then several at the end of the boardwalk on the beach. There is many feet of soft sand to walk through from the parking garage to the main level part of the beach.

Are there 2BR units in the main Lodge. I thought I read somewhere that most or all of the rooms were studios?

Yes, there are 2 bedroom units. In fact, this past weekend I had a 1 bdr lock-off in the main lodge, 3rd floor.

Building 11 is the main lodge and all rooms there are lock-offs. They will usually not reserve those as 2BR villas- except as HC villas- but do reserve them as 1BR villas and Studios.

Adjacent and connected to the main lodge, is building #12 (it uses the same elevator) and it does include some dedicated 2BR villas.

There are a total of 21 1BR villas and 21 Studios at the resort. 16 of each are found in buildings 11/12 and the remainder are under the GV's in the other buildings (none of which have elevator access).

From memory, I think there are a total of 20 2BR's in the lodge (bldg 11/12). 16 of those are lock-offs (usually reserved only as 1BR and Studios) and 4 are dedicated 2BR Villas.
