Howdy,

For this year's Halloween Golf Cart Parade (2017):

What day is it? October 30, or October 31?

What time does it start?

What is the parade route?

Thanks in advance.

Daisy,

We won't know details for certain until the October Movie/Recreation calendar comes out around the first of October 2017. In past years the Parade has been on both the 30th and 31st. In 2016 it was on the 30th. Last year it started at 5pm at the hitch/un-hitch area just inside the Fort past the Trail ride horses. Sign-up for the parade is at the Bike Barn in the days before the event.

The route is straight down Fort Wilderness Trail from the hitch/un-hitch area down past the Meadow Trading Post to the intersection with Big Pine Trail down by loop 100. It breaks up from there (back up Big Pine I guess).

This thread has the info on last year (see the second image). https://www.disboards.com/threads/october-2016-movie-rec-calendar-halloween-events.3550745/

The locals crashing TOT issue can be dealt with very simply by only giving candy out to people with Magicbands. If DISboard members put up signs that say, "No Magicband; no candy!", that will cue their neighbors to check for the bands as well.

The problem with that is not all kids where their bands all the time. For instance, our family (mine, my sister's, my niece, and my sister in laws) are all annual passholders, therefore we do not always get resort bands, and do not wear our AP bands except when going to the parks. We all camp during Halloween and ToT. Something would have to be handed out during check in to guests that this would be a requirement for ToT.

If I can tag on to this question. I came here looking for the same info. We'll be over at the poly, but I've always wanted to see the golf cart parade. I figured we'd make an evening of it. Trails end for dinner etc... I know last year the headless horseman made an appearance, that would be a nice bonus.

My question is more about logistics. We would come from the boat docks. It doesn't sound like parade is anywhere near there.
We would also like to view some of the decorated campsites. I thought about doing a carriage ride (called and they're booked plus i don't know if it'll be the 30th or 31st). Then I thought maybe we could rent a golf cart, 1 day rental. But it seems, the golf cart rentals aren't anywhere near boat docks. Are they? We've been to FW a few times, but just around the area where the restuarants are. I'm just not familiar enough, to know what my best plan of attack should be.

Golf carts are rented at the other end of the Fort, you would need to catch an internal bus from the settlement to the outpost. Settlement being where the boats come in.

Would it make more sense to drive over there? Is parking near where the golf cart rentals? We will have a reservation for Trails End.
OR maybe we'll just scratch the golf cart idea and do the parade and dinner. How would we get to where parade is? Is it a reasonable walking distance or take one of their internal busses?

There is parking in the overflow lot, but at halloween it maybe full. You would then have to take the golf cart up to TE for dinner. Internal buses will get you along the parade route, believe it is the yellow bus. And they end near TE, not too far a walk.

From watching some of the previous video's and doing some lite reading, I thought the route went from the hitch/unhitch area straight down toward the Settlement, that would be the Orange bus.

Then I thought maybe we could rent a golf cart, 1 day rental.

If this is your plan, you might want to call and see if they have one to reserve for the date that you want. When I reserved mine last month for our Oct. trip I was told there weren't many left.

Thank you for the correction on the bus route.

If we're coming from boat docks and have an ADR at trails end after...would be able to see from the area of the 400 or 700 loop. This doesn't look too far from the settlement area.

400 and 700 aren't far at all. I can't really say how far it will go past the Meadow TP. Some folks might exit early into 800 or 700 for example. But be aware on the October activities schedule I posted yesterday at the top of the Camping Board that has been pinned now, the golf cart parade is at 4pm on Monday Oct. 30 and NOT at 5pm like last year.
