Hi Everyone!

We are Southern California natives and live only an hour away from Disneyland, but we enjoy visiting every December because it's so beautiful around Christmas!

We're only spending 1 day at Disneyland (Friday), but staying Thursday night at the Disneyland Hotel. One of my questions is, how crowded do you think Disneyland will be on a Friday (1st or 2nd week of December)? We've gone on Saturdays around Christmas, but found it to be very crowded. Do you think a Friday would be better or the same?

One of the reasons I'd like less of a crowd this time is because I'm pregnant. I'll be just about 8 months pregnant by the time we go and I'm afraid I may be too uncomfortable waiting in really long lines. Which leads me to my next question: What rides WON'T I be able to go on being pregnant? I figure there will be more rides I can go on, but I wanted to know which rides my husband will have to go on alone.

Also, does "early admission" still exist for Disneyland Hotel guests?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Hi Sasha! A Friday will definitely be less crowded than a Saturday in early December.

There is no more "early entry" at all, Disney discontinued it in January and instead is (supposedly) opening Disneyland an hour earlier every day than it had in the past.

As for the rides, you'll need to avoid the obvious ones like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Matterhorn Bobsleds and Star Tours at Disneyland, and Screamin' Over California, Maliboomer, Grizzly River Run and Mulholland Madness at DCA. Some of the spinning rides like the Teacups and Roger Rabbit may not be a great idea either.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy, and have fun at Disneyland! :)

Thanks so much for your response Michelle!

I'm really looking forward to going, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to skip too many rides. Luckily it doesn't sound like I will. I figured the obvious faster coasters I'd have to avoid, which I'm fine with. But I was really hoping Pirates of the Carribean would be okay. I'll still check with my dr, but I'm sure it will be fine. That's one of my favorite rides (DH proposed on that ride:))!

Ooh, just thinking about it I'm so excited. Only 3 more months to go. Yea!!!

Thanks again,

Hi there,
I was pg when we had our annual passes and so I remember all too well what it's like! At least the weather should be cool for you and that will make a difference in your comfort level. Take lots of bottled water with you anyway so you stay hydrated with all the walking.
All of the rides with lapbars and safety restrictions mentioned above will be out for sure - I dont think that POC is a problem I think I rode it right up to the end. Please talk to your doctor first.
Finally - make sure you take breaks and if others are going on rides you cant go on- just relax grab a snack and put your feet up and do some people watching.
Have fun and congrats!!
Just think in a couple of years you will get to enjoy sharing the Disney Magic with a little one - it makes you feel like a kid again too!

Friday shouldn't be too crowded - as most of us are still working or in school that early in December. Supposedly crowds aren't too bad after Thanksgiving weekend up to the week before Xmas. Then it's a royal zoo.

The weather should be good for you (not too hot). And lines shouldn't be bad. And if other's in your group ride the rides you can't (Star Tours, etc.) you can go through the line with them ... letting the CM at the entrance know you are only keeping them company and not riding (so they don't freak) ... then you can pass through and wait for your party when they exit. Of course, being pregnant you might be more than happy to sit on a bench and RELAX while your group rides some of those rides.

PoC should be ok, but like others said, check with doc to be 100%.

Congratulations!!

We've gone mid-week during the first 2 weeks of December - it's our favorite time to go! - and it's pretty slow and very nicely decorated!

As for the rides, I went last November while 14 wks pregnant and basically just avoided all the rides with height restrictions - they seem to be the same ones that are bad for pregnant women. I did go on PotC without any problems though I did brace myself for the that first drop, just in case. And I went on the Autopia, but we went with a group of people so I made sure that I had my friends in front and back of me so that no one would stop suddenly or rear-end me. Drink water, take it easy, and enjoy it!
