questions about FP+ and DAS

My questions pertain to show, parades, fireworks things that in the past have not been FP+. We have had a DAS in the past and will have one again. Here's my question. I'm trying to plan accordingly and thought it best to use our 3 FP+ for rides. Would I be able to use the DAS for shows for example festival of the lion King, Nemo, Beauty and the Beast- shows that have FP. Or is my logic backwards? How would that work? I can't imagine they have someone outside shows, like at rides giving you a return time. Do they? In the past we used DAS minimally based on the time we travel and our families needs at the moment. As my health progresses I will need to be more aware of how to use the DAS to make it an enjoyable trip for myself and my family so I don't hinder their vacation. We won't have a wheelchair this trip(my parent's aren't going) Can you use a DAS for wheelchair locations for parades and fireworks? I've never thought about it but read a post on here and got confused.

Not one person knows if it would be better to use FP+ for rides and DAS for shows or vice versa or even if you can use DAS for shows? Still trying to find info.

If the attraction has both a standby line and a FP+ line, then the DAS can be used. Things like parades and fireworks have FP+ but do not have standby. DAS may be allowed if the area isn't crowded, but I wouldn't count on being able to use the DAS for those.

Which is "better" to use may depend on your own personal situation, your ride preferences, the crowds at the time of year when you go. DAS works best when used in conjunction with FP+ -- such as plan your 3 FP+ "must-dos" and then try to have a DAS return time issued that fits between those times. Using DAS for things with very long standby times may leave you waiting with little to do until your return time.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for answering. Fireworks and parades are not a priority to us as the waits are way too long for me. Your answer was a great explanation. I've just never used DAS at a show before (only a few rides) so I just wasn't sure if it could be used and if so if it was wise.

When you wrote attraction you were including shows like FOTLK, Nemo, B&B. I was on the Disney site and shows aren't listed under attractions. I just want to make sure my thoughts were correct and I'm just driving myself batty.

Up until very recently, there were no attractions/shows that had Fastpass, but not a Standby line. So, there was no need to have exceptions to the general rule of 'you can use DAS for anything with Fastpass Plus'.
The only exceptions to having Fastpass and NOT having a Standby line are fireworks and parades. So, recently we have needed to add the distinction

We (at least I) usually call the shows 'attractions'. I think Disney calls those 'Entertainment'. People have used DAS for all those you mentioned. There will be one difference - usually DAS is open ended. It has a Return Time that you can't come before, but has no end time.
For shows, you are getting a DAS for a specific show, so there will be a window of time to arrive to see that show.

Thanks for the response. That's what happens when one over thinks wording. At attractions ie rides there is always someone at the FP return that is also the case at shows? Again I'm sure I'm over thinking it.
Thanks again.

Yes. There is always a CM at the Fastpass entrance at very least

What about Fantasmic at HS?
people have used it for Fantasmic.
It does have both Fastpass Plus and regular lines.
You also have the option of choosing Fantasmic as one of your Fastpass Plus attractions. I would personally be more inclined to do that because you could use DAS for other things.

I actually have found that I prefer to use FP+ for shows and das for attractions next to them instead of vice Versa because it gives us a set chunk of time to burn as our wait time without being forced to wander and not be sure what to do while we wait.
