Hi All,
For anyone who has stayed there, could you tell me how long of a walk is it to the parks from here; and/or how was the shuttle to Universal and what car rental place is located on-site?? Any other thoughts on the place would be greatly appreciated!!!
TIA

I AM SO HAPPY YOU SAID THAT!!!
we just went there for 5 days in august and it was BEAUTIFUL! it was very clean, quiet, nice, and the beds were amazing! it was about a 15 minute walk to universal. first, you go out of the hotel and cross kirkman road. this is a 10 LANE ROAD AND IT IS BUSY! THE ONLY WAY TO GET ACROSS IS TO RUN RUN RUN!!! we didnt find it a problem. after that, its a lesiurly walk across from from the portifino. go across universal blvd (not nearly as busy as kirkman) then walk along universal blvd. it is right next ot the hard rock hotel. you will soon see the valet parking lot. go up the escalator there, and join the main croud and go to UNIVERSAL! we didnt find this walk a problem. if you want to take the shuttle, there were 2 in the morning to universal, 2 in the afternoon. 1 in the morning to sea world and to wet and wild and 1 in the afternoon. there is none to disney, and on friday, saturday, and maybe sunday nights they have a midnight bus from universal (this is useful if you are out clubbing), best of all it was FREE! and we were the first or second stop (not sure), and the bus was always empty. it was a great hotel. send me a message if you have any questions. here is a picture that shows how close it is. see the two buildings in the top middle of the picture? yep, thats it! have fun!

We stayed there over the weekend (my sister splurged - I usually don't like wasting money on overpriced hotels unless they're on-site). It's nice enough. The rooms are decently sized, though I was surprised that it lacked a fridge (I guess you can request one, but I'm sure they charge an arm and a leg for that).

Did not care for the $5 a day parking fee. If you're not in a car, it won't be an issue.

But I don't want to dog on them. The location is nice, the rooms are spacious enough and clean, but it wasn't really my cup of tea.

(oh, and beware the insane markups for items in the food court area. It shouldn't cost less to get breakfast at Pastamore...)

Oh, and I'm still a little angry at them for putting a hold on my debitcard when the room was already paid for via Expedia. There's still $150 just floating out there in limbo until they get around to putting it back into my account. I guess they thought I looked like the kind of guy who'd spend that much money watching dirty movies in my room...

(jeez, was I that obvious?)

Glad to see a positive report on that hotel, there really haven't been that many posted, so it's kinda up in the air.

We just stayed at the Best Western next door and it was great, plus they have free breakfast.

If the Double Tree doesn't have breakfast, there is a new Golden Corral that is being built in the shopping center there.

Here's my page with more info about walking across the street.

I appreciate the info!!!!!!!! Very Helpful!!!!!!!!! We got a great rate through AAA (less than half of what we woulf of paid on-site!!!).
Thanks again!!
