I am making sure that I have this straight. Many people have suggested ordering to CS and sharing at some of the places. I have 2 adults and 2 children on the plan. Do I have to specify 1 adult and 1 child or can I just order adult meals when we do that? Not clear on that...
Okay, this could become another argument thread. There is the Disney policy and then the actuality of what you can get away with. I'll spell them both out as I understand them.
First let's talk Table Service. From what I understand, Disney has now separated the Child Table Service and Adult Table Service credits. So now it is impossible to cheat on table service by paying out of pocket for the kids and using that credit for an adult. Good, problem and discussion solved. (if they did indeed separate the credits, I haven't been since that change apparently happened).
Now let's talk Counter Service. Apparently they did not separate the counter service credits. So in essence if you have 4 people, 2 adults and 2 kids Disney expects that you will purchase 2 adult CS meals and 2 Kids CS meals for each day of your credits. But since the credits are not separated on the ticket then it is apparent that you can go order 4 Adult CS meals without a question and Disney has no way to track this on the plan. No one will probably be questioned, even when the kids are in line with them as it probably isn't worth the hassle.
Now, does that make it okay to order the kids an adult CS meal. Ethically, probably not. Financially, probably not. But the question does remain... If Disney has the ability to separate the credits (which they must, since they did it with the TS) then why did they not do it with the CS meals. Maybe they truly don't care. Maybe they do.
Anyhooo, everyone will have their opinions. Bicker will be by the book and that is certainly the most ethical way to go. Others will argue that the kids meals are crap and they can't be expected to give the kids nuggets everyday. I agree with that too. But as stated, 11 bucks a day isn't much. Figure the kids table service at 8 bucks (12 if you go to a buffet), 4 or 5 bucks for a CS kids meal, and then a snack at 2-4. You are making out well enough. So getting an adult meal with a kid credit is cheating. But again, what 9 year old wants 4 or 5 chicken nuggets for lunch? And they make everyone in the room get the plan right? So there is the argument that they didn't make enough good choices. That is true too. I'm lucky because I have 2 kids. I will get them both a kids meal and then order something extra out of pocket to cover the rest of their hunger. Oh, who am I kidding? I'll order them the adult CS meal and see if anyone cares.
I'll tell you what I'll do. In January I will go to a CS and order an adult meal and tell them it is for my child on the DDP. I will see if they make me pay OOP or not. You'd think that would answer the question. But it won't because people will argue that the CM didn't understand the rules.
Jeesh, can you tell I've read a few of these threads?
