Hi guys I need some opinion here on David's Bridal. I am going to a Bridemaid next spring & we have pick out dresses from the Make A Match Collection. But a couple people have told me they have heard bad thing about Davids. this is all heresay you know horror stories of other peoples weddings. So I would like some trustworthy opinions.

My biggest concern is did you get the dresses when you were told you would, we all have to have them cutoff. Tea length to knee length. top wise I think we are ok. And do the shoes run true to size?

Thanks a Bunch
Kae

I used David's as did most of my friends. The main complaint we all had is that the salespeople are just mean. But my dress was in with in a month of ordering and I've had no real problems with them. Just make sure you try the dress on that your interested in so you get the right size, usually one or two sizes bigger then your normal size (stupid bridal designers). I think the shoes I got were the normal size just the dress wasn't. If your worried about them not arriving in time just tell them you need it a month sooner then you really do. I've heard this tip listed many times no matter where your shopping, it just makes good sense.

Hope this helps.

I used David's for my BM dresses. The sales girl was useless, but other than that, we had a fine experience with them. The dresses were a month early, the came in the right color and the right sizes. My BM's didn't use David's for their alterations. I have heard many nightmare stories from people dealing with David's for alterations, but others have had no problems. It seems to vary some store to store.

I guess I have been lucky with nice people at David's. I am an hourglass, and I found the make a match for my brothers wedding to be a size SMALLER than what I usually use in dresses. I have a small waist so I think that that may be it. Well and thanks to surgery...smaller up top =)

I used David Bridal for my bridesmaids to save them some money over the bridal salon where I got my gown, the bridesmaids dresses were so expensive. Davids Bridal had beautiful bm dresses with alterations for under $125 so I tried them out. They were horrible!! They ordered the wrong style twice, then the wrong color, then they altered them horribly and all along they were not helpful and very rude. I had even spoken with upper management outside of this location and they were just as bad. I would never recommend them. I had to take my girls dresses to another seamstress to fix them b/c it was cutting it too close to my wedding.

thanks Everyone. Our sales gal was nice but did not spend alot of time with us we were an hour early, We did not find anything at the first place we were at so we were not there as long as we thought. But they let us start anyway. We all found what we wanted. The Bride has her dress already. I have to add we had a blast trying on tiara's. ;)

I actually just returned from David's Bridal a few minutes ago. I was worried because I heard such bad things from them. I had a wonderful experience and the consultant I worked with was awesome.

This was my first time trying on Wedding dresses and was shocked that she showed me one of the least expensive ones first. She never pressued me into any high end items and she had my daughter in the next room trying on BM dresses.

I would definitly recommend going on a weeknight as no one was there. I can not imagine going on a weekend.

Good luck to everyone. I really think the people you get depends on your area.

I just bought my dress there last week. I had no intention of buying, I went to try out different styles since they have the biggest selection of sizes. But we fell in love with one of the dresses and figured, why bother "shopping around." I've been in a few weddings before as a bride's maid and for 2 of them, we used Davids' - one in Jersey and one in Maryland. Never had a problem. I haven't had anything altered there yet, but only because we have a seamstress down the street who's sort of a family friend. I would recommend them, I've never had a problem.

I just went to try on dress last night at a david's bridal in new york and had the best experience. The sales woman was very helpful and worked with me for over 2 hours! I felt really special and important. She never got annoyed or frustrated that it was taking so long and more importantly wasn't pushy. I think I might have found my dress!!!

I guess it depends on which David's Bridal you go to - But I recommend going during the week when you can get a lot of help

I had previously posted my nightmare story for my alterations on here.
But here is another story.....
We got all my bridesmaids dresses together and ordered them together, so they would be from the same dye lot ( I had a bmaid from PA and we are in MA) so she went to her local davids and told me what size etc.
Well..that all worked ok, but I had a junior bridesmaid who wanted a dress like the bmaids. Her mom is a wonderful seamstress and had offered to make her one but she wanted to same exact one...I was ok with this, too. But of course, she was about 10 and tall and a stick, so davids didn't have one to fit her. So what we did was we ordered fabric for her and her mom made her dress, just by referencing Bmaids dresses (I said she was great). Anyways, we ordered her fabric and overlay so it would be the same dye lot, too. Well, we get it and I have no clue what they gave us. Her mom knew how much to order and when I picked it up for her, it wasn't nearly as much as we ordered!! For some reason and I have no clue why or how, they put our names on this, but it almost looked like the scraps from a seamstress doing another navy dress. Needless to say, they had our fabric there they "found it" while I was sitting right there. No clue how this could have happened and how our name could have got on the wrong one as no one got their dresses altered there or anything!! Oh well, it all worked out in the end and her dress was identical to the others!!! Her mom is so good!!!

David's was horrible!

I used them for my bridesmaids' dresses. I needed dresses for 4 girls, one of whom was going to get in California, and the rest who were getting them in NH. My sister (in CA) had no problems. The rest of us, however.....

I got the mix and match ones since there was such a wide variety of sizes. My cousin is a 13 year old size 1, and they told her that she would need a kids dress. This would have been fine, but she's 5'6, and nothing was long enough. My friend is a size 20 in real life, so in the world of dresses, she would probably be a 22 or 24. The sales girl told her there was nothing they could do, she would need to lose weight before the wedding. My other friend had just had a baby, so wasn't sure exactly what size would fit after she lost all of the weight, but needed a different size skirt and top. They told her that wasn't possible, even with the mix and match stuff.

We finally got all of the dresses ordered, with some extra material ordered so I could alter one of them. They messed up the original order, and told us they could not guarantee that they could get the right ones in before the wedding (they had 3 months in the first place). Needless to say, my mom and I spent the 2 days before the wedding trying to alter dresses.

My advice: anyone but David's!

Got my bridal gown at David's, and my bridesmaids got theirs at David's. Had no problems. My dress came months ahead of schedule, and the bm's dresses were ahead of schedule. Had no problems with alterations, either. I was a little worried, because had horror show experience in Long Island when we went shopping for my sister's dress. She got here dress elsewhere since this place looked like a garage sale. I think it depends on the store, and also the day of the week. Definitely go on a weekday. It will be much less frenetic.

I have used Davids a couple times as a BM, no problems. Just remember that when you go to a store for a less expensive dress, you are sacrificing the level of service you would receive at an expensive boutique.

I went to the David's Bridal in Dedham, MA last Saturday and I was worried but it was all for not. I actually got there 15 minutes late and when I called to tell them I was stuck in traffic and would be late they said no problem (and this was a Saturday)! I got in and everyone I met was very, very nice. The saleslady I had was awesome, she helped me out so much, brought me every gown I had on my favorite's list and then she said she would be right back with some gowns she thought I would look great in but I didn't pick. I did not pick any strapless because I am very small up top and did not think I could keep them up but wow, were they nice but $200 more. So even though the strapless looked the best on me I decided to go with one on my favorite list because it was cheaper but I cried all night and when my fiance asked what was wrong I told him. He told me to call and get the more expensive gown and I told him too late, all sales are final. Well I called anyway and the lady that answered the phone remembered me (not my saleslady but another one that was watching me try on gowns) and told me she was glad I changed my mind because the stapless looked gorgeous on me. She let me change the gown with no questions asked and I was thrilled. So far I have had a great experience with them, hope it continues. I told them I needed my gown two week earlier than I do and I have my fingers crossed that everything turns out well.
