Hi everyone, in 2003 we did a 7 day Eastern in mid Nov - we found the weather to be great - especially the water temp in Caribbean, but also found the CC water to be a little cool but swimmable at that time. We are now considering a 7 day Western cruise for either early Nov or late January. I'll assume the Western cruise stops would be similar in temperature (air and water) to what we experienced on the Eastern, but wondering what temps (air & water) would be like in last week of January on Western? Also, are the seas generally rough or calm in late January? Thanks, Jo

We did 7 day eastern from Jan 8th to the 15th. No one got sea sick, and we had a great time snorkeling. We got some strange scattered showers, even while at the beach, but, it was over as fast as it started, and left behind really pretty rainbows. I would cruise again January..... no complaints.

We did the 7-day Western late January in 2003 and the 4-day late January this year. We experienced rough seas leaving the Port the first night but I think that this is typical since I read this experience from other cruisers. On both our experiences, the weather was quite cool. There was a cold front in Orlando during our 2003 trip but that was kind of a fluke. Key West was a little windy but at least sunny. It was hot in Grand Cayman. Cozumel was nice and we did the Dolphin swim, the water was a little cool. Caught a storm and was not able to get into Castaway Cay in 2003, rough sailing all the way back to Carnaveral. This past year on the 4-day, got into Castaway Cay but the water was too cold for our taste however there were still quite a bit of people in the water. The children's pool was also quite cold.

We still had a great time and would still consider sailing during the early part of the year.

Hi,

We sailed on the 1/15 Western this past January. The weather was coolish for the most part and we had a fair amount of showers. Watersports in Key West were canceled due to rough seas, and we had to skip Grand Cayman because the seas were too rough for the tenders. They had to close the pools onboard at one point because the waves were causing the water to slosh from one end to the other, and some folks were seasick. We remember rolling back and forth in bed with the waves! Cozumel was fine, though some showers. The big disappointment was that we also had to skip Castaway Cay due to the rough seas. The Captain tried twice to dock but we ended up with another day at sea. We had a great time anyway, but just be prepared if you go in January for the unexpected!
