Questions about Contemporary

Best to wait until you're checking in to see if you can upgrade to a tower room. They may "quote" an additional charge or they may give it to you - it never hurts to ask. But don't be disappointed if you don't get a comp upgrade -- you'll still have a fabulous stay at CR!!

Definitely bring the swimsuits along. ::yes:: Pools are heated and there will be swimmers! Better to be prepared, especially since swimsuits don't take up much suitcase space! See you @ CR on the 19th!

over the past 20 years.

The problem is, I am slightly biased. We had two slight problems this past time, that I had never seen before.

1. Housekeeping did a fine job cleaning the bathroom, etc. but they had done a poor job vacuuming and changing the pillow cases. I don't want to appear "snobby", but If I'm paying well over $200 per night, I expect clean pillow cases each night.

My 3yr old daughter had her face painted in Toon Town. She was exhuasted and fell asleep on the bed before we could wash her face. So unfortunately, there was a more than noticable amount of paint on the pillow case. The next night when I went to tuck her in, the same pillow case remained. Now, if there were only a bit, I'd say they overlooked it, but this was very noticable.

Next, we noticed chip bags near the kickboards of the bed when looking for DS (7 month) toys. These weren't our chip bags. So this meant that they had remained from the previous family.
Lastly, there was gum stuck to the carpet in the entrance of our door in the hallway. Again, these things do happen, I understand. However, after day 3 and watching housekeeping ignore the gum, I called and it was subsequentially removed.

2. Two dresser drawers had their faces coming off. After the first day I finally called maintenance, and that day, the drawers were removed (not replaced). Ironically after about day 4 without 2 drawers, I was going to call again, but they had finally shown up and had been repaired. If they had brought me the compressor, woold glue, and nail gun, I could have fixed them in 5 minutes. This was not a major problem, but in my history there, these type of problems were taken care of without phone calls.

Over that 20 years, I'd say we've stayed in both the tower and the wings an even number of times.

With all of the above said, I would not hesitate to continue to stay at the CR. The past 20 years there have been wonderful times. Restaurants, shopping, the monorail, the arcade are all things that I've grown to love. Some people do not care for it, but I now have my family hooked on it as well.

One more note ----
If you have to leave early from MK, if you face the MK from the North wing room, you can turn on channel (I think it was 20 or 22) and listen to wishes, while watching the wishes fireworks in the MK.
My DD absolutely loved this!

Oh, just reading this I'm excited! Maybe more so than my kids! This will be our first and probably only trip! My dh is active duty Air Force and won't be around much after we move next year. And then who knows where we will be! So this is our one shot at the mouse!

Now we have a wing room reserved, but from what I'm reading is it possible to send them a fax and get a tower room free? Also since we will be there over the holidays (dec 19-26) should I even bother? I'd appreciate any advice to make this the best trip possible! Thanks!

Airforcewife,

Please give our thanks to your husband for what he does. And as a family, I commend you for your sacrifice as well.

I believe it depends on the time of the year. I faxed a request for an upgrade about 45 days out from our arrival. What I noticed was, that when we arrived, the hotel was "jumping". There were tons of people there. I knew that an upgrade was highly unlikely and none was offered. I have heard it working, but I would imagine it would depend on how busy they were at that time.

We're staying at CR tower 12/16 to 12/25. We were going to stay in the wings but we got an awesome Shades of Green overflow rate for the tower of $179. I'm not sure how you made your ressies or what rate you got, but if the rate we have is still available through SOG, then maybe it'd be worth it to switch your ressies if you're really interested in a tower room???

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time. We stayed in a standard wing room last June and had a blast.
