Questions about Captain's Grille

We have a dinner ADR for Captain's Grille for our July trip. A few questions:

1. How is the warm mushroom and onion tart entree? It sounds interesting.
2. Would they allow someone to order something that is on the lunch menu, during dinner hours?
3. Are their crabcakes fried or are they also available broiled? Are they good?
4. Are there any desserts in particular that are must-haves?

kind of off topic, but when we were at the C.Grill about a week ago, both me the my Wife had the chef's special which was a gnocchi dish. I had mine with shrimp, she had hers with chicken.

Personally I would skip Captain's Grill. It just doesn't have that Disney feel and frankly reminded of a Denny's with the naugahyde covered chairs and booths. Unless you are staying at the YC I would skip it and check out any of the many TS restaurants in World Showcase.

The profiteroles were very good. Much better than I thought they would be. DH had the crab cakes, said "they weren't that great", but can't remember if they were fried or broiled. I thought it was good but DH didn't like his meal and thought my steak had a lot of fat. It did have a lot of fat but the flavor was good.

We're already going to 3 different countries in Epcot for TS meals (Norway, France and Canada). We have 3 days at Epcot and so 3 TS meals there, then we will also try some CS there in the World Showcase. Captain's Grille is for a day we are not going to a park (and we don't have APs, so no option to just go there for dinner and that's it), and we purposely wanted a restaurant that is more like a "regular" restaurant since we have a few character meals on our trip, plus Whispering Canyon Cafe and 50s Prime Time. We wanted to book a dinner that would be a little more low-key. We're staying at Boardwalk Villas so Captain's Grille is nearby.
