Questions about Cabana Bay rooms

We are taking our kids on a graduation trip (1 college, 1 HS) to Universal in June and planning on staying at Cabana Bay. We are going to get 2 rooms so everyone has their own bed. (DS always gets the short end of the stick on sleeping arrangements on vacation and DH and I like our space so 2 rooms are going to work better than a suite.)

We are looking at the poolside standard room bc they are they cheapest. However, I am also concerned about the location. I would like something fairly close to the lobby and quick service restaurants. Also, are they interior or exterior hallways? For those who have stayed here before, are there any advantages to having an interior hallway? Any other advice on choosing a room location?

Hi there are two sections two cabana bay. There is the tower sections which is all indoors. The doors open to hallways and it is a better location if you want to be closer to the lobby. It also is the side that faces the lazy river.
The courtyard is on the other side further from the food court with the pool and the water slide. These doors open to the outside courtyard much like a moderate at Disney. Personally we like the tower sections. We like facing the lazy river and enjoy that pool side better then the other. I personally like the the indoor hallways a little better but I would take an outside courtyardif need be.

From what you say you want I would choose the tower section of the property.

We love Cabana bay and will stay there again! Enjoy!

Thanks for the info, it's good to hear from someone who has actually been there. The tower section does sound a bit more like what we would enjoy the most.

The rooms with the exterior entrances are only family suites. So as long as you book a standard room, then you should have a room with the interior hallway.

That’s not accurate. Our family suite was in the tower with an interior corridor.
We loved the extra space of the family Suites, fwiw.
We were pretty far from the lobby. If you end up far from the lobby, take the closest elevator to ground level and enjoy the poolside stroll. Better than the boring halls.

so if you book a standard room it will be located in the Tower section (what the poster said), where , you are right, there are also family suites.


now, regarding the distance to the food court/lobby, it's quite similar in the end
Getting a Tower room at the far end of the resort will always put you farther away from the food court than getting a room at the entrance of the courtyard section.

only difference is that Tower section is closer to the Volcano Bay dedicated entrance, and Courtyard is closer to the garden walk to SF, RPR and Citywalk


@OP : have you considered a family suite
they have 2 queen beds as well as a quite comfortable sofa bed in the sitting area.

that would definitely be cheaper than 2 rooms, and also be advised that you will not be guaranteed connecting rooms AND there needs to be an adult 21+ staying/booking each room.
