Questions about breakfast

I finally figured out the whole dinner-rotation thing :cool1:

So, that leads me to the next group of questions.......What restaurants serve breakfast? Do you just walk-up? Do you need reservations? Are there certain seating times?

Just generally confused about this, so any tips would be great!

Both ships have buffet breakfast on Deck 9 in either Topsiders (Magic) or Beach Blanket Buffet (Wonder).

No ressies are requried.

They also serve breakfast in one of the main dining rooms (not sure which one) which you just walk up to. Though they will seat you with others to fill a table and they serve from a menu.

We have always done the buffet breakfast...has everything from fresh fruit to mickey waffles!!!

... and made to order omlets "around the corner" from the buffet lines in Topsiders.

Breakfasts and lunches are on a "drop in" schedule. In other words you go to whatever place you want to eat breakfast or lunch (thats open) and go on in. Minimal waiting and NO reservations required (unless you're doing Brunch in Palo - the Ressie REQUIRED!!)

Also, for the restaurants that serve breakfast, your server will tell you each night which restaurants will be serving breakfast the next morning!

Lumiere's was always the one serving breakfast on the Magic. Parrot Cay is used for Character breakfasts, which you will have the morning you eat in PC for dinner the first time (unless that falls on Saturday, then it will be on Thursday).

The only time you have a specific time for breakfast is one the day you get off the boat--

1st seating eats at 6:45 :sad2:
Late seating eats at 8:00 :cheer2:

Does this mean that everyone will get to go to a Character breakfast (if they so choose) without reservations too? You just show up on your appointed day? princess: ::MickeyMo :bride: ::MinnieMo

On the 7 day cruises - yes.

There are two seatings on at-sea days, with each dining rotation having one assigned day for the entire rotation. You will sit at your regular seats assigned for dinner and have your regular servers.

On the Magic Lumiere is the only restaurant that serves a sitdown breakfast and lunch. The menu is the same everyday with only the daily skillets changing based on the day. They will try to seat you with another family but we've always asked to be alone (family of 5) and they would give us a table for six.

Everyone on the Magic will get to go to a character breakfast, held in Parrot Cay, but you only get to go on the day and time that is assigned to you. You will get tickets and you need to show up for that seating and sit at your regular assigned table with your servers. If you eat dinner during the early seating you will have the first seating for breakfast and if you have late seating you will have late breakfast seating.

You can order breakfast from room service but only cereal and bagels, etc.. no hot food unless you are in a cat 1,2 or 3. If you are in a suite you are able to order room service off the Lumiere breakfast menu.

Every morning Topsiders has a fairly good buffet. As somone mentioned make sure to check out the omelet station. Its after the buffet and I kept forgetting it was there until after I had filled a plate from the buffet. (They have a special station set up in the same place at lunch everyday. I kept forgetting that one too)

On the last day you can go to the restaurant you ate your last dinner in for breakfast at your assigned time. You can't order room service unless you're in a suite so Topsiders is a great option. Our first 2 cruise Topsiders only had donuts, cereal and bagel type things but in Nov 2004 they had a full breakfast available. I don't know if they were getting rid of leftovers (nothing seemed fresh) or if they've changed this for good.

Your servers will tell you what day and time your character breakfast is. You will sit at your table (same one as at dinner) and your serving team will wait upon you.

So, no you can't just show up at any character breakfast you want. But you don't have to make ressies for one either - because it's tied to your dinning rotation.

Where do you eat on the day you get off the boat and why do they give you a time to eat? That 6:45 is just too early a breakfast for a vacation :sad2:

You can either eat at 6:45 (if you had early dinner seating) in the dining room you had your last dinner in or you can go to Topsiders. They make the time so early because they have a second seating for the last dinner seating people and want to get you off the ship early. They need to get prepared for the next group of people getting on the ship and wanting lunch at 12:00.

So if I am understanding this correctly you eat at 6:45 if you want a meal where you are waited on or you can go to the buffet at anytime? Thanks

If you have early dinner seating yes you have to eat at 6:45 if you want a meal. Topsiders is available for anyone not willing to go to breakfast at 6:45. We've been on 3 cruises. On the first 2 cruise Topsiders had only a Continental breakfast available. Last year for some reason there was hot food, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, etc. I don't know if that was a fluke or if they've change the Topsiders last day breakfast.

On the last day of your cruise (it's the last MORNING really) you have the following choices....

1) get up and go to topsiders anytime you want BEFORE 9 am for at least a "contenintal" breakfast (sometimes there's hot foods too)

OR

2) Go to a sit down restaurant. Your servers will tell you which restaurant to go to (most likely in the same restaurant that your last dinner was in).
A) If you had Main/Early (6pm) seating your breakfast time is 6:45am.
B) If you had Late dinner seating (8:30pm) your breakfast time is 8:00am.

OR....

roll out of bed and shower, skip breakfast completely, get in your rental car and be in Orlando by the time your tummy wakes up. Have breakfast on the way, have breakfast at WDW, have breakfast at the airport. Of course, you'll pay for these meals, its "paid for" on the ship.

We had early breakfast, and it was a nice last chance to see our servers, but the food wasn't great and even though I'm an early riser, coffee and a roll at 7:00am would have done fine for us. I'll probably continue to go to the breakfast, but I won't have high expectations for anything other than a lot of coffee.

Which brings me to a crucial question... how IS the coffee on board? (Sorry, but I love my Starbucks)

Not intending to do this, but what if you are an early dinner person, but show up for the late breakfast seating...what do they do, kick you out? And how do you identify yourself as an early or late diner anyway for that breakfast?

If you show up at the wrong seating someone will be sitting at your table. On the last morning you sit at the table you ate at the night before with your assigned servers from the week. If you had early dinner seating you will eat at 6:15, if you show up for the second breakfast seating the table you are assigned for that breakfast will be taken by the people who eat at that table for late dinner seating. I'm sure some people don't go to the breakfast and there might be empty tables but you would be with different servers and they would have to fit you in somewhere. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it and don't know if anyone has tried.

Sweetspot, thank you for clarifying that, now it makes perfect sense. :)
