Hi Everyone!
We leave for a Hawaii at the beginning of April and we can't wait! I have some questions about our stay. We will be there Thursday to Monday. 1)Does anyone know what night the starlight hui is and at what time it starts? I've read there is a daily paper with activities, does anyone have one from a recent stay? 2) Also we will be ready to leave Waikiki at 3 on Thursday to check in at aulani. Will we be stuck in traffic? Should we leave later? 3) Are surf lessons offered at or near aulani? 4) The only dining reservations for our stay is 8:45. Will the evening activities be finished by then? Thanks!

We were just there a week and a half ago - Thurs to Mon and the Starlight hui was on Thursday and Monday nights. I did see something that gave me the impression that can change though. Our flight arrived at 3:30 and we did take a bit of time before getting on the road and had slow going - took approx an hour to get to Aulani but I wouldn't delay driving out there. The firepit storytelling happens at several times but for the most part the evening activities should be done by 8:45 unless you planned on a starwatching offering.

Thanks! That is very helpful!

Traffic will be heavy that time in the afternoon but I agree, just head over, they will greet you with flower leis and necklaces and fruit flavored water and all that driving stress just melts away ;-)

We used Surf HNL for surf lessons and they use a beach near Ko Olina (you take the same exit as the Costco). The Hawaiian Fire Surf School was using the same beach at that time and is also very highly recommended but we went with HNL bc they would allow our 6 year old a private tandem lesson. We loved them! Great experience for all of us. They will pick you up at Aulani for an extra cost but we had a rental car and it was easy enough to find.

Looks like the Starlight Hui schedule is not that fixed. I was just there as well (last week of February), it was on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

I had thought that what I probably saw was the schedule for the week when we arrived on Thursday. At first I was confused because at check in the CM told me it would be that night - Thursday - and then again on Monday but the weekly schedule showed Sunday and DH and I almost decided to just wait for that. Then there was a different weekly schedule and it was on Monday, not Sunday. So yes, I think it does change probably depending on what other events they have at the resort.

We have 2 nights planned prior to our DLC from Hawaii so I am starting to look at things to do while there.

We just came back from Aulani! Traffic in Honolulu is ridiculous between 2:30-6PM, and the speed limit is so low from what I'm used to in California. Took us about an hour to get to the Waikiki area from Aulani in traffic, and about 35 minutes with no traffic.

Starlight Hui when we were there was on Thursday and Sunday night. I think they sometimes switch between Sunday and Monday's.

We left the city of Honolulu about 12:30, had lunch and headed over. If you're not too, too early your room will be ready. If not, leave your stuff and explore or go to Happy Hour across the street at Monkey Pod. That's what we did our first night!
