Questions about AirTran

I have flown AirTran before from PHL to PIT but never to MCO. Right now with the web special/discount price AirTran is nearly $250 cheaper than USAirways which we normally use. I am a little concered about seat selection at checkin. It won't be a problem for the trip down but we don't have a computer with us on the trip back. If we check in to get a seat, do we have to print our boarding pass? Will someone at CR be able to get online and help us with seat selection or would someone at home be able to check in for us? One other question - with USAir w often upgrade to first class at the airport for $100, does AirTran offer a similar upgrade to business class if seats are empty?

Thanks!

AirTran upgrades for $35 if seats are available.

We checked in at the AirTran counter since we didn't have access to a computer on the trip home. I did print the boarding passes on the trip there when I checked in, but since I had luggage to check I had to wait online anyway.

We were very happy with AirTran, the plane was clean and on time and would recommend.

We've checked in from the business centers at the BWV and CSR and had no problems, but needed to pay for the internet usage/page printing. We've also just checked in at the counter and been happy with our seats.

For the $35, we've upgraded on most of our flights, but sometimes business class is not available.

GL!

Thanks everyone. We'll keep our fingers crossed for an upgrade but hopefully the flights won't be crowded.

I wish we could take advantage of the Wendy's offer but it looks like it would take 6wks to credit to our account and I don't want to wait that long to book for Feb in case our preferred flight times get full. However, I think we'll still be visiting Wendy's more often so we can earn them for a trip in Oct.

Upgrades for nonstop flights to Orlando are $50 now, unless you're flying from Atlanta.

On our trip in Feb. we stopped by the lobby concierge at the BC (available to everyone in the lobby) and a very kind woman selected our seats and printed out our boarding passes. Perhaps CR has a lobby concierge as well that could help.

I will confirm that we did pay $50 to upgrade to business class on our May trip.

So far we have had good trips with Airtran. We love the Non-stop to MCO! Although it is the only NS from ROC! You do have to be careful that Airtran does change it schedules with out informing you. Just keep an eye on the schedule now and then after you book.

If you have a local TA that you use, or if one is close by, and you buy your tickets through them they can assign your seats at the time of purchase rather than having to do it online 24 hours before. :) That way you don't have to worry about access to a computer and you get "first pick" too. :)

I flew Air Tran PIT/ATL last week, booked through my corporate travel, and I went on 24 hours ahead and was surprised my seats were already assigned. My itinerary from American Express said "seats assigned at airport check-in" but I guess it was done internally.
