questions about adding the PLUS option to used 7 day tickets

Hello,
I purchased 7 day non expiring tickets last year for our Feb. trip. We used 3 of those days and are planning on using the other 4 in October. Can I add the water parks plus option to the 7 day ticket? I checked on Disney's web site for the price difference in the 7 day non expiring with water parks and just the 7 day non expiring. The difference for adults was $41, I think and $48 for kids. I'm confused as to why the kids was more. Also, does anyone know how many days of Water Parks are on the 7 day plus ticket? Can I still use the Water Park days for another trip after my main 4 park tickets are used? Thanks so much!!

Here is from the WDW site I hope it helps, we had non expiring ticket and add more day for the park no problem.

Q. Can new tickets be upgraded once they're purchased?

A. Yes, the new Magic Your Way tickets can be upgraded before your vacation begins, or within the 14-day window you have to use the ticket after it's first used. Upgrades include extending the ticket length (i.e., adding more days) or adding any combination of Options: the Park Hopper® Option, the Water Park Fun & More Option*) and/or the No Expiration Option.
* Water Parks subject to seasonal or weather closures. Age restrictions may apply for access to certain facilities
