Questions about adding a cash night to the front end of a point reservation?

We are staying at HH in May. We like to add a cash night for a Sat. night stay on our first night. Has anyone ever done this? Do you call the resort directly or try and deal with the reservation folks in Orlando? I know that in the past at certain times of the year there can be a 25% member discount....is this a DVC member benefit? Any info would be appreciated. We would only consider this is we did not have to move on Sunday....what kind of chance do we have for that?

We've done it at OKW, not HH. I called member Services and they booked it.

I'd book it thru MS and ask to have the reservations linked togerther- then check again when you arrive to check-in at the resort. The 25% discount is often available at HH.

Because of a change in plans I need to try and add a Sat nite 2 bedroom for cash at HH June 7. Will call MS in am. Any idea on chances given that the resort is now sold out and this is just prior to the Summer season markup? Doc, why do you feel that HH discounted cash nites are more likely? Can I waitlist for this cash nite and/or the discount? Thanks

Due to the high point requirements for weekends, there are often rooms available for Fri and Sat nights. SInce HH is underutilized from Nov-Feb, discounts are also available during those months. I have received the discount even in July on 2 occasions.

The member discount is available for reservations from member inventory- so if there are rooms available for your dates, it's a possibility for a weekend night - but unlikely for a weeknite in the summer.

Bottom line is - you'll never know until you call MS and ask!

We did it last year in HH for a Saturday night stay - nothing was available until a few days before.

We booked it this year for Vero and got it on the first try. If its the same size unit, they will link them and it will be seamless to you.

I called today and got the Sat nite for cash with the discount but had waitlist for the Sunday on points. She mentioned that the list was in affect until 30 days prior. Does this mean I should start calling daily once within 30 day mark to check on whether their has been a cancellation or will they still call or automatically confirm?

You just need to request to remain on the waitlist after the 30 day mark. As long as you request this, they will keep you on the waitlist. Then, at 7 days prior, there is no more waitlist. At that point you would need to call daily to check for cancellations.

Are there time restrictions for calling MS about cash/discounted rooms? Our vacation isn't until Feb© so I'm assuming I need to wait until at least late summer/early fall?
