I have questions about the following rides in California Adventure:

1. Goofy's Sky School - Would this ride be scary for an almost 5 year old? Is this the same ride that used to be Mullholand Madness?

2. Soarin' Over California - I read they were changing the movie in this ride so it's no longer video of only California. Have they made this change yet, or is it still the original movie it's always been?

It is the same ride as MM. They did not change the ride cars or track layout, just the theming of the ride.

This continues to be a rumor. They have not changed the movie. Some say that if the current DCA expansion is successful, then the Soarin' change may be a part of a next phase expansion of DCA, but that is years away.

RE: Goofy's Sky School: I think it totally depends on your child. My five year old went on it with my arm wrapped tightly around him to brace him. (And my eyes completely shut as I cannot stand roller coasters.) He loved it the first time. The second time he went on it with my husband (and my husband's arm around him) and was scared out of his wits. Whether that was the mama vs. dada factor or the novelty of the ride wore off, I don't know...

Scary for my 50y/o wife. Whether or not for a 5y/o is up to that 5y/o. If he liked MM he will like this. Exactly the same track but with different theming.

I noticed no difference at Soaring in Aug. None what-so-ever.

My 5 y/o DD loves it but her favorite ride is also ToT. She sat with her big sister and had a blast!

My daughter had never been on Mullholand Madness. I went on it twice and both times the other adults I was with was very scared (and one of them enjoys roller coasters that I consider to be much scarier than MM.

Mulholland has always been one of my daughter's favorite rides. Now, she is a kid that's pretty fearless, but if your son is fine with Space Mountain, Splash, etc. then I would think he'll be just fine.

Soarin hasn't changed the viedo yet, as far as I know.

My 7 and 9 yr olds love it. They have been riding it since they were tall enough to go on it.

My 9 yr hold had a hard time riding it when he was 7 and it was dark - he wasn't super comfortable when he rode it then. BTMRR isn't his favorite in the dark, either.

This rumor was based on one thing and then based on that rumor, other rumors sprouted.

Soaring was so popular when DCA opened they made a clone for Epcot. Same attraction but Epcot has a area called World Showcase where you explore many nations. So why put an attraction about Cali in a park about the whole planet. So people suggested it be rethemed with scences from the world.

So based off the rumor Epcot would get a new movie is that DCA's version would too. Then with DCA's retheme it added a rumor for the timing, which has been prooved false. So with a 2nd phase of construction in DCA rumored to come, another rumor of when it would happen. And the rumor mills just keep grinding away.

My 5 year old LOVES Goofy's. If your kiddo likes Gadget's Go Coaster, he/she will be fine. My DS likes BTMRR but not Space Mountain - I'd say Goofy's is an "easier" coaster than either of those two. It's about the same as Gadget's, I'd say. It's a very short ride, and, unlike Space Mountain, it has short breaks to recover before the next turn/drop. I think it totally depends on the kid. If your kiddo wants to try it, great. If he/she hates it, I guess that will be the end of that! I doubt a kid would be scarred for life from Goofy's. :)

We just got back from DL a couple weeks ago and my 6 year old loves Goofy's Sky School. Here is my take, it really depends on where you sit. The front seats are worse then the back seats. I really did not like sitting in the front (but did several times) and felt much more comfortable in the back seats. My DH always ended up in the back seats by himself (I sat up front with DS) and when my DH did sit up front, he agreed that is is much more scary in the front. I love roller coasters but I think with Goofy's it is the flat turns that make it so much more scary to ride.

DD5 LOVES Goofy (more than any of the princess things we did) and we went on it 2 times in 1 afternoon (insisting we go again after Aladdin and delaying our dinner plans!). If we had discovered it earlier on our trip, she would have asked to go on it even more.

I think she likes it because 1) it's not in the dark (she refused to go on ANY of the dark rides, including Little Mermaid!) 2) you can see the entire track from the line/outside (unlike BTMRR which she refused to go on) and 3) you can see as your car approaches the fun twists (as opposed to other roller coasters that are going so fast you can't really anticipate the next twist/turn).
